[The recto is King Edward II's request of 31 December 1308 to the sheriff of Westmorland for information on debts due to the Templars at Christmas 1307.]

The sheriff writes: This writ came to me on Thursday in Holy Week, on which day I held an investigation through reliable, worthy and legal men of my bailiwick, who said that since the lands and revenues of the Templars were taken into the King's hands, no one owes the master or brothers of the knighthood of the Temple anything.
