I’d just stepped out of the shower and was going to put on some comfy clothes when the doorbell rang, you’d think that Alex and Gloria would be decent enough to answer it but I thought too highly of them. I wrapped the towel tighter around me and reluctantly trudged downstairs, I swung the door open only to find jay standing behind it. Fan-fucking-tastic!

“How can I help you?” I asked in my iciest tone, all he could do was check me out. Seriously! I groaned out loud and stomped back up the stairs again, making sure to lock my bedroom door. How embarrassing was that, answering the door in a towel; I really didn’t want to deal with Jay right now and it didn’t help that Alex was having yet another party, the heavy bass music had already began thumping throughout the walls. I’d just put on my sweats when the doorbell rang again! Seriously, could a girl not get any alone time? I once again stomped down the stairs and threw open the door but this time I was happy to see the two people behind the door,

“Isabella, Marie!!” I fiercely hugged my two best friends that had armfuls of chocolate, ice-cream, chips and soda. I took some of the stuff out of their arms and ushered them upstairs,

“Not that I’m not glad you’re here but what are you doing here?” I both looked them once we’d sat on my bed,

“Sleepover, of course!” Isabella exclaimed whilst clapping her hands, I laughed at my friend’s childish behaviour,

“We knew that Alex was having another one of his party” at this I cringed internally at the mess I’d have to clean up tomorrow morning,

“Don’t worry chica we’ll help you tidy up.” I’d decided that I would tell at least Isabella and Marie about me and Jay being mates and then deal with my mum later,

“Guys I have something to tell you.” Both their faces brightened up with excitement, gossip was what these girls lived and breathed but when it came to best friend secrets they were safe. They waited patiently for me as I figured out how to say it; in the end I just blurted it out,

“Me and Jay are mates!” I breathed out, their faces were the type of faces you saw on cartoons, I would’ve found them funny but now was not the time.

“Oh my God!!” they both exclaimed at the same time,

“I can’t believe your mates with the sexy alpha, tell us all the details!” so I told them everything including the towel incident.

“So when’s your first date then?” I grimaced at that, time to hear some lectures; I looked down at my hands as I spoke,

“I’m not dating him.” I’d said it extra quietly but their wolf ears would’ve picked it up anyway,

“What!” they both screeched, I knew they would act like this. They didn’t understand that I couldn’t be with Jay and be associated with all that pack business,

“It’s because of your dad isn’t?” I looked up at Maria in surprise; I’d never really talked about my dad with them,

“Yeah, it is.” I replied softly, still surprised,

“Don’t looks so surprised Carmen, we’re your best friends and we know everything about you.” I gave both of them the biggest hugs I could manage,

“Enough of all this mushy stuff! Let’s get our party gear on and party!!” my eyes widened to twice the size, I’d never been to one of the pack parties. My friends seemed to notice my hesitation and began trying to convince me, unfortunately for me Isabella and Marie could charm anything and that’s how I found myself begrudgingly walking down the stairs in a short dress. The twins had bought with them make up and several dresses, I opted for one that was purple and fell just about mid-thigh, I had simple make up on, they had curled my black hair into lose curls and it was all finished off with black heels.

“You guys are so helping me tidy up tomorrow.” I grumbled as I walked down the stairs, Marie stopped me just before we got to the bottom,

“Carmen I know you’re scared of getting involved with pack business but it’s going to be difficult trying to live without your mate in your life. But I know you’ll do the right thing and remember me and Isabella are always there for you.” I smiled at that, both Isabella had found their mates a few weeks ago and were both deeply in love, I linked arms with them as we entered the living room. I instantly felt everybody’s eyes swivel and land on us. I could hear the harsh whispers which went along the lines of, “who are they?” “Isn’t that the old Alpha’s daughter” that one made me wince slightly, they didn’t even know my name but I guess that was kind of my fault.

“Looking lovely tonight, ladies” his voice sent shivers of delight and annoyance down my spine at the same time,

“But I think I preferred Carmen when she was just in a towel.” I spun around to face him and give him a piece of my mind but he was gone, my two loving friends where nearly wetting themselves laughing.

“I can’t believe he actually saw you in a towel!” Isabella choked out,

“Whatever! Let’s just get some drinks.” I didn’t drink heavily but I had a feeling that tonight I’d be drinking a little more than usual.
