Shayla's p.o.v

Before I even made up my mind of whether I should see who came to the rescue or run, the driver already rolls down the opposite window to it. I can't seem to have a good visual of its face because it's dark and there's no light glowing around. I tried to analyze the figure but then the person spoke up and said,

"Do you need a ride, love?"

Alright, it's a guy with a deep voice and a slight Australian accent I'm assuming? Or some type, I don't know, but there's something in the way he talked rather than it being plain and flat.

How lovely.

I was about to deny the offer but then again, do I really want to walk another 5 miles or who knows how many it is til' I get home? But this is a risky situation like this guy could be a criminal that was released a few hours ago or something. My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the guy's voice again.

"Is it a yes or no? I'm about to just leave you here if you don't make up your mind anytime soon"

Goosebumps began to hover over my whole body and I started to get a little scared. I took a tiny step closer to the vehicle and gulped before I spoke.

"I... don-don't k-know you" I stuttered between each word and then clenched my teeth tightly together in fear.

"I'm not a rapist, kidnapper, or anything like that" he snapped back at me but tried to do it as calmly as possible I could tell.

"That's what a rapist, kidnapper, or um" I hesitated for a moment, "any bad person would say" I shouted as if what I said was so smart.

"Fine, good luck walking out here in the dark where probably you will end up being raped, kidnapped, kille-" after he said all that, my eyes widened in realization and I couldn't help it but quickly open the front door and sit in the passenger seat right away.

As I got in, I felt small droplets of sweat sliding down at both sides of my face and I tried to wiped it all off with my red and white flannel. I then buckled my seatbelt and the car resumed into motion. I heard the mystery man chuckle lowly and I just prayed to God so badly that I'll eventually make it out alive after this ride safely.

It was quiet for a minute but during that short time, I tried to look at the person so I could see what he looked like. All I saw was a head with bunch of curls surrounded and woah, is that a bandana around this dude's hair? That's quite odd to me, am I a little late on today's trends? Haha, wait, me late on the fashion trends? Please... OKAY, I need to who this guys is before he drives me any further to wherever.

"Soooo... What's your name, love?" I chirped at him and yes, I had to add the word 'love' in the end just to lighten the convo a bit annnnd because he did it first.

"Do you speak British or something?" he replied in a surprised way.

"Um, no, I'm fully American and took Spanish 4 Honors for my senior year"

"Then what's up with the 'love' at the end?" I can feel my face burning which might be causing my skin to turn a bit red but I'm so blessed that it's night right now which means this guy doesn't have to see how embarrassed and stupid I am at the moment.

"Well, you did it to me too" I said while staring at the rear window and not facing him.

"It's just a nice little saying that the people of my country say" I turned back to face him and half-shouted back,

"Okay, so what? I can't say it? It's just a little saying that only your country people can say? Too bad because you're in Amerrrrica and in case you didn't know, there's a thing called 'freedom of speech' wher-" I wasn't able to finish my words because the guy then rammed on his brakes in the middle of the empty street which made me jolted pretty hard in my seat. As soon as I got my balance back, I got quite angry and screamed out, "What the hell was that for?"

"That's because you talk too much and should probably calm down just a tiny bit" the guy responded while pressing his right pointer finger and thumb together to represent a small amount. Things aren't going so great so far and I want to burst out more of my anger towards but before I even do, I closed my eyes and tried to simply take deep and long breaths. After a short moment, I opened my eyes and smiled- hoping that he could see my facial expression at the moment.

"Let's just forget the whole beginning and start over," I cleared my throat and began to talk smoothly, "Hello, my name is Shayla. What's your name?" I said but then quickly and quietly added under my breath, "And please tell me that you're not a criminal or have done anything wrong" From this, I heard him laugh lightly towards the ends and it relieved me.

"Beautiful name, Shayla," he said in a way which I felt kind of seduced, "my name is Harry Vanderwoodson, 18 year old who's going to be 19 soon, was born in the U.K. but raised in the U.S., just graduated at Verona High School, and going to Rutgers this fall" I let out a small snort because of the way he said everything but something that made my mind stop for a moment was when he said: "...just graduated at Verona High School..." Over my 4 years of going to that school, I've never heard or saw him ever. Suddenly, I push on one of the lights on top to turn on so I could finally see his face much better. As soon as I did it, my face kinda just flushed for a sec- not because the guy's face was familiar but it was so... Wow.
