'Kendall Anderson'

"You know Chris if I had finished college, I would not be asking you for money now would I?" I asked Chris my brother as I got up from my very uncomfortable object I called a bad.

"You would have finished college if you did not date that asshole when everyone clearly told you not to" aggh him and his 'I told you so' "I already have a lot on my plate so if you called me at six in morning for no reason. I will not hesitate on killing you" the other end of the call went salient

"Okay fine. I called so you could help me tonight with my bosses party, I just need you to help around the kitchen and at the end of it you get two things"

"Which are?" I stopped on my trek on the way to my bathroom "Food and same money" that does sound like a win win situation

"Okay I will do it but-" before I could even finish, my dear brother had already cut me off

Chris Anderson. That's my older brother his a manager and chef of a catering company.

He is one of the protective ones, that's why in high school I never did get bullied for being a 'nerd'. When he wasn't looking at least.

Anyways time for job hunting. I quickly took a ten minute shower. Being late for school almost everyday got me to do things faster in small amounts of time

I walk into my sad little beat up closest. I quickly pick up a baggy mustard sweatshirt with a black shirt, black Jean and black ankle boots

Sorry no

We already got someone

You're not fit for this job

Those are the kind of answers I got when I went for my job interviews.

After giving up on this whole job thing. I went back to my apartment to find April on my so called living room typing away on her beautiful iPhone when I still have my very old flip phone. Yes I know at this day and age, I still have a flip phone but hey, what can I say; It was the cheapest phone they had in the store

Sometimes I get jealous when I see April because she's got all the nice things. Like a nicer apartment, better job and even her looks are much, much better

And me, all I have that's great is an almost finished PHD in business trade. Key word being almost

I hate my life.

If you have not guessed by now, Well let me tall you a bit about myself

I'm a poor young adult of age 20, I live on the creepy poor side of New York City, while my friend: April and brother: Chris live on the more middle class of NYC.

At age 20 am already in debt. I know shocking, I have my medical bills for my dad who was in the hospital two months back, and I'm at last four months behind my rent

Making matters even more horrific I lost my job at DD's coffee shop for being late too many times.

"I know I locked my apartment before I lift so how did you get in" April turns her head my way

"Hey Dall, I kinda stole your keys one day and went and made a copy, so yeah. Anyways Chris told me to tell you: you should be at his work place at six o'clock"

What! that lives me with about ten minutes, his crazy. Without even saying bye t April I quickly run to his work place

"Look Chris, you know I can not cook or even say hi to people. So way don't you give me the job of....washing the dishes?" I give my brother the biggest puppy eyes ever known to mankind.

After Chris nodded his head. He went back to making rich people's food. And I recently found out that this party is for a multi billionaire -yes I said billionaire- for some charity organisation for homeless kids

I may as while enjoy this moment while it still lasts because I doubt I'll ever be under the same roof with a billionaire

"Chris I need the lady's so excus me" before he could say anything I quickly ran off

I now know when they say a Mansion is like a maze they were not joking. This place is huge with very expensive or should I say priceless items I am even afraid I'll broke something by just looking at it, or it will lose it's value for being too close with me

I walked down a hallway and at the end of the hallway I found a blood red sofer, I walked slowly to the sofer.

What?

It was begging to be set on, so you know what I did? Yeah I set on it

And boy was it one hell of a sofer. So comfortable, I've never set on anything like it

I just could not hold myself. So I did what I know how to do best. I took out my very old, very big, very heavy book out. It's about thirty centimetres long and thirty centimetres across and at lest seven to ten centimetres thick with really tiny, tiny words

and just like that I started to read. Now what page was it: oh yeah 1 298. The name of the book is called 'In The Night'. If I tell what's the book about then I'll have to kill you.

"...then she looked at him straight in the eyes, losing herself in the pools he called eyes. Flipping her over, him finally being on top of her. He lens in closing the gap in between them. And just when he thinks his got her, she..."

"Who are you?"
