I haven't forgotten
Nor will I ever
Forget how you left me
To this world.

I remember
You told me
How the stars
All die
And then we see them
Brighter than ever.

I remember
You told me
Of Atlas's struggles
Holding up
An entire world
On his weak shoulders.

I remember
You told me
Of Icarus's
First and final
Flight
As his father watched
Him perish.

But did I ever tell you
Of Echo's plight?

She loved him
As I love you
But he didn't see it
And she was cursed
Forever
Because of something
That never was.

I don't think you see
How I am cursed
Like Narcissus, your fate
May be worse
Living
And dying
In mirrored ignorance.

But at least for me
What we had
Was real
And more
Than a reflection
In a vain
Consuming
Pool.
