Character design: My thing about Nice Guys

(Wrote this and posted on Facebook because of recent news. Yung driveby shootings in California, where people were murdered, were done by a guy who claimed he was a "nice guy" pero no girl wanted him. Hay.)

My thing about "Nice Guys" who can't seem to get the girls they want (which some of you already know, if you've read That Kind of Guy):

A real "Nice Guy" would understand her, even when she makes seemingly stupid decisions, because he bothers to know more about her and would know that these decisions aren't made on a whim.

A real "Nice Guy" would understand that she doesn't HATE him or is intentionally torturing him by NOT FALLING IN LOVE WITH HIM everyday.

A real "Nice Guy" wouldn't even THINK "I'm a Nice Guy - why don't you fall in love with me?" because THAT'S NOT A NICE THING TO THINK. That's an arrogant thing. That's a presumptuous thing. That's a KAPAL NG MUKHA MO thing to think.

Just because you aren't BAD doesn't mean you are NICE. Just because you don't lie, cheat and steal, doesn't mean you are a saint. Get over yourself, and actually DO things. Be polite, be smart, be confident, be awesome. We like awesome. You don't deserve any prizes just for being "nice."

=============

When it comes to writing and you're designing a "nice guy" character - maganda yung may evidence na "nice" siya. Sana may gagawin siya at mapu-prove na mabuti siya. The absence of any bad behavior does not automatically mean mabait ang tao.
