You were outside during recess walking towards a corner, your favorite spot in the playground, when you heard voices. You wondered how they could have found your hangout, it was very secluded compared to the rest of the field. You turned the corner only to find a group of kids (trolls and humans) beating someone up, while shouting names.
"MUTANT"
"FREAK"
"You don't belong!"
"YOU'D BE BETTER OFF DEAD!"
"Loner"
"Outcast!"
'MUTANT!!!!!"
Karkat!?
"KARKAT!!!"
How could they!
"HEY STOP IT!!!"
He was beat, with a black eye, cuts and bruises. He was whimpering, red tears stained his cheeks.
"LEAVE HIM ALONE!"
"What are you going to do about it?" They snickered.
"Just let him go! Now!"
"Why? He your boyfriend or something?"
You blushed,
But you were still furious.
"Do you like him?" They smirked while teasing you.
How would you respond?
No shit i like him!
You hesitated before answering.
They all seemed eager, awaiting your response. You even saw Karkat tune in to your argument, looking up at you.
"so...So what if I do!"
Karkat and the group of his bullies all gasped in surprise, disbelief even.
He blushed.
*le gasp*
You hadn't told anyone about your feelings.
You ran over to Karkat, shielding him.
You were going to protect him.
It seemed that was enough for the group, so they left. You knew the staff was terrible, so telling wouldn't even help. You turned around to face him,
"you... you...Iike me?"
You didn't answer.
You pulled him up, held him close and he hugged back.
"Y...y/n?"
Then you kissed him.
"I love you Karkat."
But he didn't kiss back.
Instead he pulled away.
You felt your heart break.
Then what happened surprised you. He looked deep into your eyes, jumped into your arms, squeezed you tight,
then he kissed you.
You kissed back.
"I...I love you too."
