Chapter 3: The Perfect Date

It's actually the day of my date with Louis! I basically made Emily think I don't even care, but I'm freaking out. What do I wear? I don't know how classy the restaurant he's taking me is!

I throw on a casual dress. It's not too fancy, but it's not too trashy and school-casual either.

Louis rings the doorbell almost exactly at seven, which is the time he told me he would be picking me up.

"Hey, gorgeous," Louis greets when I open the door.

"Louis, hey!" I exclaim, biting my lip nervously.

"You look nice," he compliments, but I can tell something's wrong.

"What?" I ask.

"I thought we'd get something like burgers," he says.

"Oh," I say, feeling stupid. "I'm too dressed up?"

"It's fine," Louis says, shaking his head. "We'll just go somewhere else."

"No, it's okay!" I say, grabbing his arm. "Why does it matter? I can just wear this to a burger place. Nobody will care."

"Ashley, it's fine," Louis says. "A first date should be somewhere better than a burger place, anyways. I don't even know what I was thinking!"

"It's not about the money," I tell him. "Doesn't it just matter if we have a good time?"

"Well, every girl seems to say that," he says, chuckling. "It doesn't mean anything."

"I'm serious," I say confidently. "I don't care if we're in a ditch, as long as we have a good time."

"You mean that?" he asks.

"I do."

We go out to a much nicer restaurant, even though I told him burgers are fine. We had an amazing time, though! It feels like we can just talk forever. There's always something to talk about with him.

He drives me home and walks me to my door like a perfect date. I've never been treated so well on a date before.

"I had a great time tonight, Ashley," Louis says, smiling at me.

"I couldn't agree more," I say as we reach my door.

"So, will I be able to see you again?" he asks, biting his lip.

"I'd like to," I answer.

We just stand there looking at each other for a moment, and then he does it! Louis leans in and kisses me. It's perfect. It's like I'm living in a movie when the girl finds her perfect guy who wants to kiss her in the rain and walk her to her door. I love this.

"Good night," Louis says, and walks away from me.

"Good night," I whisper, even though he's already gone.

I can't even stop smiling to myself.
