Roll for initiative...

[The story]

While Kanrish was unable to do absolutely anything that day, he simply sat staring ahead blankly from the coachman's seat on their carriage ever since he woke up.

He wanted something to distract his mind, but not even navigating was possible, so he simply sat there, staring ahead blankly.

Evening came sooner than Kanrish had expected. His entire day spent staring ahead had left him with no idea of time.

Add to that the fact he had slept well past the group's lunch, he had far less time on his hands than the rest.

But that day, Emiko suddenly spoke up to him as they sat in their carriage under the canvas with the dull thrumming of rain overhead.

"Why do you worry so much about a world where you can't get back to?" She asked him and gave him a regretful expression as she continued.

"I don't know what you had there, but here you have all of us. But why are you so sorrowful over a pot of jelly you ate and mourning the fact the jar has to be thrown out?" She spoke, a sudden analogy that was more true to the fact than he would like it to be.

"It's just as pointless as not wanting a plate to be thrown out when you have finished all the food on it and the plate has cracked, rendering it useless. You should live on for those you left behind, is that not the best way to mourn the losses you have suffered?" She spoke painstakingly truthfully and Kanrish hesitantly nodded at her.

"You're right. All I had there was my work, my parents and siblings and nothing else. Because of the poor wages I could not even afford to rent my own place to live so I still lived with my parents." Kanrish spoke regretfully as he remembered the times he had been bickering with his siblings as they wanted to learn something from him. The fun he had when playing with them when they were only a year or two old.

All those things warmed his pained heart as he nodded at Emiko who had spoken such a hard truth that it, in an odd way, helped him deal with the situation. At least, somewhat.

The knowledge everyone dear to him in that world was going to die weighed heavy on his heart, but he had found so much pleasure here now.

Thanking the girl, he gave her a warm, fatherly hug and saw Ayame and Hapii glaring jealously at them.

"Oh, come here you two, I haven't forgotten about you." He spoke, a lot more cheerful than he had been a few minutes ago and hugged all three of his daughters.

"Thank you Emiko, you really helped me there." He spoke gratefully when he released the three girls he felt Akane's arms gently resting on his shoulder and saw her fingers interlocking on his chest, right above his heart.

"We'll always be there for you Dear. You have a family filled with long lived people around you. And Onee and I won't die on you of old age. You'll have us all around for a really long time, that's for sure." She spoke and placed a gentle kiss on his neck before she pulled him against her.

"You shouldn't force yourself to deal with everything alone, we're a family, and we're here to help you. Remember that." She spoke and turned is head with two fingers on his chin and passionately kissed him, sending the three girls into a chorus of 'ew!' as they saw two of their parents giving each other such a passionate kiss.
