i went to schools
where white people
were the under dogs
but it didn't matter to them
as they soaked up the cultures
around them.
we looked at each other
as rivals to a friendly cause
and when we were turned
towards the people outside
of our community
we all said
this is bullshit
as the papers went on about
how the police
got away with treating others
like rag dolls just because
they were coloured
as if the red staining their hands
was nothing compared to the sin
that was reflected by a person's skin tone

i forget how lucky i was to go to school with people who used my ethnicity to explain my strenghts than as a reason to sart a war
