It was pretty hard for him to realize that he was in love, You but he figured out by the way he behaved around you. He would drop his 'tough-boy' act and would really care about you and be very gentle around you.

He would constantly laugh at you. No matter what you would say, he would laugh at your witty jokes or your funny faces. Most of the times when he would laugh, you would join him, which only made him fall in love with you deeper, because he loved the sound of you having fun.
