Here I Lie Upon The Ground

As I lie here on the ground,

Stars and world's turn round and round.

Shall my freedom soon be found?

Yet still I lie here on the ground.

Wind and birds fly free and sound,

Plants and creatures do abound.

But where am I? It doth astound!

Alas, I'm lying on the ground!

Lonely silence echoes 'round,

Friends forsake me, leave me bound.

Oh, how their cruelty doth confound,

As they leave me on the ground!

Hark, what is that blessed sound?

'Tis footsteps that do toward me pound.

Is it that I'm soon homeward bound?

But no, for lo, she's on the ground.

But now I cannot hear a sound.

I sink beneath this earthly mound.

The dark earth 'round me's gently wound,

For here I sleep within the ground.
