So I googled name signs for the characters of Pride and Prejudice, but I couldn't find any. It's such a famous book, I would have expected there to be standardized international name signs in use. If there are, I couldn't find them. So I took it upon myself to create some name signs for them! These name signs are based exclusively on LBD, so they might not always make perfect sense for the book characters. See the video up here for the name signs, and the text below for an explanation as to why I chose these name signs.

Charlotte: Her sign is simple, a C by her head, because she's sensible and worldly.

Wickham: I went with something that young Wickham would think look cool and used the handshape W.

Lydia: I was looking for a sign that could easily be exaggerated to LY-DEE-YAA and this immediately sprung to mind.

Bing: It's the NGT sign for doctor, but with the handshape B. This is because at first, the fact that he is a doctor is all the sisters know about him, so naturally that's what they'd name him.

Jane: It's the Amsterdam dialect sign for flower, but by her head. I suppose I could have used the standardised NGT sign, but I like this one better.

Darcy: This is obviously his Newsies hat. I only later realised it's very similar to the NGT sign for man, but I suppose it kind of works, since he's a symbol for the patriarchy in Austen's time and such.

Lizzie: This is the handshape E going to the handshape L. Just as Elizabeth is shortened to Lizzie.

Mary: In The Epic Adventures of Lydia Bennet, Mary is described as being similar to Wednesday Addams. That stuck with me, so I used the sign for Wednesday (the day) but with the handshape M.

Caroline: She's pretty, and is identified as such. So I used a very common name sign for girls with gorgeous long hair.

Mr. Collins: So since Mr. Collins doesn't know any sign language, the sisters can be a bit cheeky in the name sign they've given him. And with cheeky I mean insulting. His name sign is annoying, but with the handshape C.

Gigi: It's the sign for G twice, literally GG, like her Twitter account!
