Emmalin P.O.V

Sofie and I have been living with our brothers for two weeks now, and tomorrow is my first day at school. I have to admit, I'm really nervous. I'm not sure how I'm going to make friends though, considering I have to sit with my brothers at lunch.

"You ready for bed, shortcake?" Dante asks, as he and my other brothers enter my room.

"Yup." I hop into bed and smile. "I have a question. How am I going to make friends if I sit with you guys at lunch?"

"You have a point." Dante says.

"That's easy. Bring your friends to sit with us. If they aren't even going to sit with you at lunch when they have a choice, then what kind of a friends are they?" I think over what Enzo said, and decide that he's right. Soon after my brothers leave, I drift off into a dreamless slumber.

"Emma!" Someone yells into my ear, making me jolt awake with a scream.

"Luca!" I whine, trying to get my ear to stop buzzing.

"Well, at least you're awake now. Come on time to get up for school." He makes little jazz-hands, and I giggle.

"Luca, you waked me up." Sofie whines, coming into my room, and snuggling up with me.

"You mean, woke." I correct.

"Oopsies." You might think Sofie was the one who said that, but it wasn't. It was Luca. "I'll go get Rosa. Emma, you go get into your uniform." Rosa is Sofie's nanny. Apparently, she was also the twins' nanny when they were younger.

I hop out of bed, and take a shower. My ribs are now healed completely, and I have never been happier than I have been these past few weeks.

Once I'm ready, I head into the kitchen, where Martha, our chef, is making pancakes.

"Good morning Martha." I say.

"Good morning, dear. I've made your favourite." She smiles. It feels good to have a motherly figure in the house. I give each of my brothers a kiss on the cheek. Antonio rarely makes it for breakfast, but he's here today, and I'm glad.

"You excited for your first day?" Gio asks, as I take a seat next to him.

"Yup." I fidget with my fingers. It's a tell that I'm either lying or nervous.

"Don't be scared. Everyone will love you." Antonio says. Antonio doesn't just dish out compliments, and he definitely doesn't lie, so I feel ten times better after hearing that from him.

"Here we are." Gio says, as he parks his car. Enzo gives my hand a reassuring squeeze.

As soon as we step out of the car, all eyes are on us. I tried to hide behind Enzo, but he wrapped an arm around my shoulder to prevent me from doing so. We headed to the front office, and got my schedule. People were either giving me curious looks, or indifferent ones. I must say, I prefer the latter. There were a few girls who gave me glares, and burning holes with their eyes at where Enzo's arm was draped over my shoulders.

"I'm keeping this with me." Gio folds my schedule up, and tucks it into his pocket. I shrug, because I already know it off by heart.

"Hey, just find us if you need anything, okay?" Luca says, giving me a kiss on the forehead. The other two did the same, and then leave me. This is it. I've got this. Taking a deep breath, I open the door to my classroom.

"How may I help you?" A guy in his early twenties asks. I assume he's my new teacher. Is he even old enough to teach?

"Um, Hi. I'm Emmalin Folliero. I'm new here."

"Oh yes, I forgot we have a new student. Why don't you tell us something about yourself?" Ugh, I hated doing that.

"Well, I'm fluent in many languages." I shrug.

"Well, I'm sure that comes in handy. Are there any questions for Emmalin?"

"Do you have any siblings?" Someone asks.

"Um, yes, I have five brothers and a sister."

"Wow, that's quite the family." The teacher, Mr. Wallace says. He gestures for me to take a seat in the back.

"Have you heard of Afrikaans?" The girl sitting next to me asks.

"Yeah, language from South Africa, right?" I ask. I learnt the language sometime last year.

"Can you speak it? I know it's a longshot, but I'm from there, and it would be nice to talk to someone." I nodded.

"Wat is jou naam?" (what is your name?)

"Ek is Elena. Ek het verlede jaar hierheen verhuis." (I'm elena. I moved here last year.) We speak a little more, and she agrees to sit with me at lunch. When I tell her about my brothers, she blushes, but still nods. I think she has a crush on one of them.

"Hey Tesoro. How's your first day going?" (sweetheart) Luca asks when we sit down at their table.

"Really great, actually." I say to him, giving a kiss to his cheek. "Guys, this is Elena. Elena, these are my brothers, Gio, Luca, and Enzo." They all say hi, and I'm 100% sure that Elena has a crush on Enzo. I'm pretty sure that he likes her, too. He keeps looking at her, and isn't really paying attention to his conversation. I meet a few of the people at the table, but mainly speak to Elena. Halfway through lunch, we switch back to Afrikaans. I realise that most of the table is staring at us. Elena seems to notice at the same time as I do.

"Kyk nie nou nie, maar almal staar na ons." (don't look now, but everyone I staring at us.)

"What language is that?" Tomas, one of their team members asks.

"Um, Afrikaans." I say.

"I thought you're Italian."

"She is. She just happens to know more than two languages." Luca says, rolling his eyes.

A tall boy with blonde hair comes to us, and kisses the top of Elena's head.

"Wie is die skoonheid?" (who is the beauty) He asks, looking at me.

"My? Baie dankie, my naam is Emmalin." (Me? Thank you. My name is Emmalin) He seems shocked that I speak Afrikaans.

"Hey, back off man. That's our sister." Luca says. I look over at Enzo, and he his face holds pure jealousy.

"Um, kan u vir hulle sê dat ek meer in hom belangstel as in Jy?" (can you tell them that I'm more interested in him than I am in you?) I smile, and repeat the message to Luca, but in Italian. Also adding to Enzo that he's only her brother, so he doesn't need to me jealous. This makes Gio snort.

"Damn. That whole switching languages thing was hot." Tomas says, earning a slap on the back of his head, and a warning glare from Enzo.

The rest of the day is really fun, and Gio even allowed me to be 'friends only' with Elena's brother, who I learned was named Chase.

I really think that school here is going to be much more fun than back at home. I mean, where I used to live. Home is with my family.
