ANDREW HAD TRAILED BEHIND TOM AS HE WALKED IN THE KITCHEN OF THE CASINO. PEOPLE WERE STARING, BUT IT DIDN'T SEEM TO BOTHER HIM.
"TOM, WHERE ARE WE GOING?"
TOM DIDN'T RESPOND, STOPPING AT THE FREEZER DOOR. HE KNOCKED THREE TIMES AND STOOD BACK.
"TOM-"
"SHH" TOM MUMBLED, HOLDING A FINGER UP.
THE DOOR STARTED TO OPEN, TWO MEN IN CASUAL CLOTHING, PEAKING THROUGH THE OPENING. "PASSWORD?"
"I WENT TO THE WOODS BECAUSE I WANTED TO LIVE DELIBERATELY," TOM SAID.
THE MEN LOOKED AT RED, RAISING THEIR EYEBROWS.
"HE'S WITH ME."
THE MEN NODDED, OPENING THE DOOR FULLY. RED FOLLOWED AS TOM ENTERED, DUCKING HIS HEAD FROM THE LOOKS OF THE MEN.
"TOM, WHAT ARE WE DOING?"
"DARLING, I TRULY DO LOVE HEARING YOU SPEAK, BUT PLEASE LEAVE THE TALKING TO ME," HE SAID.
"OH, THOMAS, WELCOME," ANOTHER MAN SAID, "THOUGHT I SAW YOUR FACE IN THE NEWS - HOPE YOU DIDN'T BRING ANY TROUBLE."
"COURSE NOT, MEEKS, I DO HAVE A FAVOR TO ASK THOUGH. YOU OWE ME FOR NORWICH."
THE MAN, MEEKS, RAISED HIS EYEBROW BEFORE SMILING. "WHAT DO YOU NEED?"
