How could he even know? I never gave him a reason to think that I had feelings for him. I knew Marissa and Nick wouldn't say anything to him. Now, as I gathered my things and changed back into my dress I ignored making eye contact with Jax. We hadn't said anything to each other since he said I was in love with him.

It may be true that I liked him...a lot, but was I in love with him? I would never know because Jax would never be mine. Not even if we were the last people on Earth. He'd probably marry himself.

"Emma," He finally said. "I'm sorry if I embarrassed you."

Ignoring my brother's call once again I let it go to voicemail. "Embarrassed me? Get over yourself, Jax."

"If it wasn't true then why did you get so mad and ignored what I said?" He said, leaning against his dresser.

"Because you're full of bullshit!" I raise my voice. "You're so caught up in your own world you think every girl is supposed to fall at your feet at the sight of you."

I grabbed my phone and heels in hand as I walked towards his door. Just as I was about to open the door he stepped in front of me.

"So you don't have feelings for me?" He asks.

I stopped, looking away from him and back to him multiple times before finally speaking. "I don't have feelings for you."

I didn't know if he was surprised or if the look on his face was almost...almost hurt but I couldn't help but stare at his lips as he bit down on them. He only did that when he was deep in thought.

"Hunter's waiting for me, excuse me." I say, trying to push him out of the way.

"Wait," He says. "I'm sorry, I know I'm always a jackass to you but I want you to know I-"

"Emma, what the hell?!" I hear Hunter's voice from down the hall. His footsteps travel through the walls as he reaches the door and starts banging.

Jax moves away from the door and lets Hunter in who was looking at Jax and I with an angry expression.

"Why are you taking so long? I've been waiting for you for half an hour." He says, angrily.

"She couldn't find her phone. We were looking for it." Jax says.

"Her phones in her hand." Hunter says, clearly not buying it as he looks at us suspiciously.

"Yeah, we found it." I say. "Come on, lets go." I walk past the both of them and head for the door. Letting the warm breeze hit my face I push down my tears as I see a familiar white car pull into Jax's drive way.

Her beautiful brown hair hung loose around her as Rebecca got out of her car and smiled over at me. Rebecca didn't have a mean bone in her body which is why I never understood how she could be with someone like Jax. They were so different. While he couldn't do commitment, she could and I knew she loved him. I saw the way she looked at Jax. It was the same way I looked at him.

She and I were pretty close when she was with Jax but once she found out about him and her best friend she stopped talking to all of us. She assumed since him and my brother were best friends and I was always around them that I knew about it and kept it from her. I found out the day before she did that he was cheating. I was going to tell her until she saw messages between the two of them.

"Hey, Emma." She reaches out to hug me.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked, pulling away.

"Good, you?" She smiles.

"Good," I say, awkwardly smiling. "What are you doing here?"

She sighs. "What did Jax tell you?"

I shake my head. "Nothing, just that you wanted to talk."

"Am I being stupid for calling him again?" She asks. "I know it's been a month but I can't stop thinking about him."

"What about what he did?" I ask.

She scoffs. "Oh, trust me, I haven't forgotten. I just think I need closure. Maybe talking to him will get me to move on faster, you know? Clear the air."

"Do you really think that'll help?" I ask. "Wouldn't it just hurt you more by talking to him, especially seeing him?"

She shrugs. "I don't know, Emma. I just feel like I really need this."

I nod. "Yeah, I understand." Did I? What else could I say to her? Sorry, Rebecca I won't let you in and talk things out with Jax because if you get back together it'll break my heart and truth is I have feelings for my brother's best friend who happens to be your ex.

"Ready?" I hear Hunter from behind me.

"Hey, hunter." Rebecca waves.

"Hey." He smiles.

Turning around I see Jax standing at the doorway looking between Rebecca and I.

"Yeah, lets go." I say goodbye to Rebecca, completely ignoring Jax as I got into the car.

"Are you okay?" Hunter asks as he gets in. I look as Rebecca goes up to Jax and they stand their looking at each other before he pulls her into a hug.

"Why wouldn't I be?" I ask, not taking my eyes off them.

"I heard you had a pretty wild night." He chuckles.

"Yeah, you could say that."
