Chapter 11

I wake up in an excellent mood. Rick and I's date was a real nice time, and I'm so thrilled ta' know that he has some more feelin's fer me than just a friend or what hae ya'. He didn't kiss me or nothin', but it was still a lot a' fun. He's real funny when ya' start talkin' to him fer a long time, and he's also really smart. I like that about him.

At breakfast, there's talk of another run. A decent group, just Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Tyreese, and Sasha out scroungin' fer anything and everything that they can find. They're throwin' around ideas about what needs ta' be collected, and they talk about a need fer blankets and more clothes fer the kids in the prison. I don't really tune in too much on what they're sayin' though 'cause I'm too busy watchin' Rick talk. He's been sneakin' me looks and smiles all mornin' and I'm practically entranced. I'm sure I look pathetic sittin' here like this, but I don't really give a damn at the moment.

"I think it would be wise ta' raid that pharmacy we've been eyein' fer a while. I think it's safe enough now. A herd passed by it a couple days ago when I was out alone, but I actually think that helped clean it out," Michonne offers from down the table a little. She's seated next ta' Daryl, and I can see her hand covered by Daryl's on his leg underneath the table. The corners a' my mouth quirk up at that and I turn back ta' my bowl a' oatmeal.

"That would be awesome," I hear Caleb say from somewhere on Daryl's left. "Some antibiotics would be appreciated." Everyone whips ta' look at him, almost panicked, but Caleb soothes them. "No one's seriously hurt, don't freak out. It would just be good to have more than we already do incase something happens." Caleb looks sheepish under everyone's harsh glares, and I kinda feel bad fer him. Then again, he can't say things that make it sound like somethin' serious has happened.

"Ya' shouldn't fuckin' scare people like that, man." Daryl cuts Caleb a witherin' glance, and I have ta' keep from laughin' 'cause Caleb looks ready ta' shit himself. "We got enough on our plates as far as people getting' hurt goes already."
The tables falls silent and looks pass between all of us. Daryl's talkin' about the attack that happened a few days ago. That's been weighin' on all of us even though nothin' else has happened.

We're tense though- always worried that whoever attacked that woman will lash out again. I don't think we could hush up somethin' like that up a second time, especially if someone dies this next time. God, just the thought...

"It's a good idea though, Caleb. I think it's worth lookin' for." Hershel's voice takes the tension outta the air pretty quick, and everyone turns their attention to him. "Thing is though, there's only a few people who would actually know what ta' look for. You gonna go with us?" The group look at Caleb, all of us already knowin' the answer.

"N-no. I, uh, don't think I'd come back." Caleb looks sheepish and scratches the back of his neck, cheeks a little red. Hershel doesn't mean ta' embarrass him, I know, but it's the truth. Caleb ain't much in a fight, and he ain't very fast on his feet neither. He wouldn't make it five minutes up against three walkers in an enclosed space, and that's not the kinda person who needs ta' be roamin' around out there.

Hershel makes an agreeing noise and turns ta' look at Rick. "Ya' know I can't go out there." Hershel cuts his glance my way and nods towards me. "Scarlett can though. Take her with ya'll tomorra' if she's willin' ta' go."

"I'd be happy to," I say easily. Everyone accepts this readily, and then the conversation continues from there. We decide ta' take the cars since it's really gettin' ta' be cold now incase we need somewhere relatively safe ta' sleep. Rick gives out direction before he leave the table, tellin' specific people ta' take inventory a' different things. I'm left with the job a' surveyin' the medical supplies and go ta' do that with Judith on my hip.
