Chapter 3: Back To The Present

(Present)
Recalling my friend.

Just like any other ordinary day, I would go to my favorite café, The Ternt's Café.
"Hi! Nice to see you like any other day Adam!" said the waitress.

"Good to see you again, the usual please" I said towards the waitress and she immediately goes towards the kitchen"

Just then the TV changed channels, and it was VinceTurnabout News.

[News Anchor: Breaking News, incidents revolving missing students, murder at the coastlines, parental abuse of a well-known author and opinions regarding the president's decision]

I see my order being given to me by the waitress and I see my chocolate donut and brewed coffee. I say thank you to the waitress and continue watching the news.

[News Anchor: Students have been reported missing in multiple schools as even the most notable schools Greyham High known also for its high security was affected by it, and now many are questioning on their whereabouts and now we are here to talk to the head of security of Greyham High who claims that he has evidence regarding the incident.]

The Head of security appears and the paparazzi took pictures of him. When the head of security finally reaches his chair and sits down, everyone settles down and the atmosphere became completely quiet.

[Anchor: Good morning, Head of security can you explain the information you have gathered to the audience.]

[HoS: .... Look everyone I have to be clear on this, this video footage is legitimate and was not tampered at all, also I cannot explain what cannot be explained in what you will see.]
[Anchor: Head of Security what exactly do you mean?]

[HoS: ... It's better to see it for yourself...] he says this while having a solemn look on his face.

A video footage, featuring a male high schooler,

[H.o.S: Everyone look at the high school student closely as he will in the next few seconds-]
The high schooler suddenly walks towards the lockers.

[Hos: -open the lockers]

Just as the head of security says these words, the high school student opened the locker, and a bright light envelops the screen, slightly blinding the audience.

[H.o.S: And as you can see the high school student the shoes are the only thing left at the scene.]
The audience is flabbergasted as the shoes of the student was the only thing left.

[Anchor: Head of security, are you implying that the high school student vanished out of thin air? Isn't this too fantastical or too nonsensical?]

[H.o.S: I am aware of the nonsense in that answer, but it can one of the most believable and only explanation as to why the student wasn't seen anywhere else in the school grounds, and if the student was the cause of the bright light why wasn't there any flash grenade to initiate it left on the ground?]

[Anchor: But what if they threw it on the ground and stole it after using it?]

[H.o.S: Look the most important part here is that the student is visibly seen being erased from existence in this very video, as they are enveloped in bright light.

[Anchor: As you can see viewers, at Greyham High a high school student whose identity will not be mentioned was enveloped by white light when they opened their locker making them vanish out of thin air in the school hallways.

[Anchor: Do you wish to continue talking about this Head of Security?]
[H.o.S: No thanks Mr. Anchor, let's talk about it another day]

[Anchor: This is VinceTurnabout news, and we will continue this discussion next week, ehem, now regarding the murder at th-]

The waiter of the café appears in front of me to show the remote in her hands and she turns off the television, I then look at the time and it's 6:00 P.M. 'It's almost nighttime' 

'It's time for me to go home' I grabbed my blue bag, and went out of the café after leaving the payment at the table and a tip as well.

'Hm...they must have turned it off because I was the only one left...'
After figuring out their reason, I walked towards a street, normally this neighborhood, crows were beside me and I wait for the stop light to go green, and it was quite peaceful but what I saw shocked me.

A truck was at a distance was swaying left and right, and I can infer that It was going at least 40 km/hr that was fast enough to kill a person and that truck was accelerating in speed. I saw that the driver was completely unconscious as their head was faced towards their thighs while their head can be visibly seen in front view.

'This is not good...

I see a little boy who got his foot stuck in a hole, countless people continued walking even when they saw it, and when they saw the truck they quicken their pace, meanwhile, I was being pushed by the crowd and the kid, was close to his death.
