I left home with a heavy heart after Christmas. It was like we both knew we couldn't be together but couldn't help ourselves. It was so complicated all I knew was that when he isn't around I really did miss him.
I worried about Penny anyone could see she and wanted him. Although he had explained the situation it made me feel uneasy. Though he owes me nothing...we were nothing. So I decided to throw myself into studying.
"Do you fancy going for coffee?" Sam asked one study session.
It felt weird I wasn't sure if he was asking just as friends or not.
"Yeah sure" I decided to just go for it he has been a great mate.
"Great, I know a nice one round the corner" he smiled and grabbed my bag. He was the perfect gentleman someone who would probably be good for me although I didn't feel the romantic spark when we were together. Me and Hunter hadn't really spoken about us but I would be stupid to think it was actually going anywhere I was just there when he comes over to mess around with.
"So how was Christmas break" Sam askes once we had settle down with our steaming hot drinks.
"Yeah it was ok" I shrugged not really knowing what to say.
"You been wearing that necklace a lot was it a gift?" He indicates to the chain showing through my clothes.
"Yeah um a close family friend brought it for me" there that wasn't exactly a lie
"Cool"
I proceeded to ask him about his time off and his parents took him away skiing. I had a nice time just mindless chatting.
"Thanks for the coffee , I better get back" I indicated outside as it was getting dark.
"Sure let me walk you back" Sam goes to put his coat on.
"Oh no it's fine it's not that far"I protested not wanting him to go out of his way.
"I'm going to whether you want or not Bella" he gave me a cheesy grin as I gave in.
We walking in comfortable silence it didn't take long before we were outside our flat.
"Right well this is me" I turned in until I realised Sam was edging closer.
"Thanks for coming out it was nice" he smiled and next thing I knew he had pulled me into a hug.
"Thanks for inviting me. We should do it again" I was being polite but as he pulled away I noticed a big smile on his face.
"That would be great Bella" he did smell good.
I have a little wave before heading in.
"Oh my, well well well" I jumped as Chloe shouted from the sofa as soon as I walked in.
"Gosh Chloe whats up" I placed my bag down on the side.
"Well here I was thinking you were studying but who do I see dropping you a back off" she wiggles her eyebrows.
"Oh Sam ... his just a friend and we were studying" I rolled my eyes.
"Ah well the way he was holding you tells me different. Go for it he is cute. kinda nerdy but still cute" she winked
"It's not like that"
"Oh yeah like you and Hunter" I nearly choked on air.
"What do you mean me and Hunter!" I couldn't look her in the eye.
"Oh nothing just you always said nothing was going on but I must say being your best friend I saw a very slight difference between how you both act when we left you hardly talk about him anymore. It's not obvious but something happened"
I frowned god she is too much "well you'll be disappointed to hear nothing happened" liar my brain says.
"Hmm sure" she goes back to munching on her snacks as I headed for my room before I could open the door. "Well just incase you know something might have .. I'd totally go for this Sam guy, no use waiting around. Not for a guy like Hunter" I knew she knew but I choose to ignore it. Obviously she was right though. This fact was only confirmed when I scrolled through my Instagram later that evening.

There was a photo added in the last few hours from Hunters account. He was clearly kissing perfect penny's check. It really hit home now staring at that. Even if it was all for show for his father for whatever it didn't matter. Part of me felt he was perhaps lying to me but either way there was never going to be a future I needed to fully get over this right now...
Despite coming to this verdict I couldn't stop the tears that start to fall.
