Something Foul This Way Comes

After his decree, Lucifer left the room. Nya did not follow. Not when Henry and Peirce were hissing and yelling after him, falling behind like his shadow. He had enough to deal with and she knew he'd want to deal with it alone.

Nya stood in the kitchen for a moment, debated what she should do next, when one of Lucifer's crew suddenly spoke to her. "How can you let him do this," Pedro, Peirce's third, and the one who had insulted Angel on that first night, stared at Nya from across the room.

Most of the crew looked haggard and half put together. Pedro was no exception but the murder in his eyes gave him new energy as he watched Nya like a hawk. He continued when she stayed silent, "How can you watch him do this!" He yelled over the island.

The others either stare or gasp but most of them are on Pedro's side. They want to know what the hell Nya is thinking.

"He's made his choice," Nya said while she mulled her words over. Her blue eyes glint darkly over her mask. "He's doing this for you, to protect you all from-"

Pedro shouts, "He should be staying here, where it is safe! Where that psychopath can't get his hooks into Helgrim!"

It was so funny, how Lucifer had this ability to lead the blind. How he could inspire bad people, assassins, thieves, murders, into being good ones. Lucifer had this natural ability to make you fall for him, to make you loyal, open, willing, all at once. Lucifer must have been born with it for this was something you could not teach, and it had inspired all of these people to fight for him, to die for him. That sentiment went both ways.

Lucy would have made a great cult leader, a perfect politician, a king, but he dared to be a mafia leader instead... not that Macy Helgrim ever gave him much of a choice.

"You should have more faith in your king," Nya said as she turned away from them a bit. "He's never lead you astray before."

"He's never seemed so emotional before," Jared spoke up from the edge of the room, his dark skin helping him fade into the shadows, "as far as I can tell."

Jared meant them, Nya, Will, and Angel. They were impeding Lucifer's ability to be objective, his ability to lead.

"You didn't know him before," Nya says to defend herself, but her words fall on deaf ears. They will not believe her, not when she is the one proposing Lucifer walk through the gates of their enemy. "There is no argument you could make to him that he has not thought of already. Lucifer knows what he's doing, he knows what's at stake."

"Maybe we can't," a voice came from the very back of the living room. They all turned to Alice, the youngest and newest member of their motley crew. Alice was somber and sad as she looked to Nya with something like defeat in her eyes. "But you can," she finished. "Lucifer trusts you, listens to you. If you told him not to go, he wouldn't. Why are you asking this of him then? Why would you put him in this position at all?" She speaks softly, like Nya has stolen somthign valuable from her.

Nya has to think about Alice's words for a moment. Unlike the others, Alice knew what they were. Alice saw the looks in Nya's eyes, the glint and change in Lucifer when his family had finally come home. Alice had been in that plane, had seen Lucifer meet William at the airport, and witnesses Lucifer's fire when his family was brought up as a subject of question. Alice saw the power these three had over the most fearful man on earth.

But Nya is not all smiles and rainbows either. She is just as much a strategist as Lucifer is, and just like him, she is not afraid. They have been to hell and back. They can do it again.

"The information Lucifer can gather from this meeting may save more lives then we will ever know," Nya said cooly. The seriousness of a general going to war seeped into her voice thought the black translater that was warm and constant around her neck. One day they would understand, but not today. "I trust him to make the right choice, I trust him to go into danger and find his way out, just as he would trust me. If there is anything we could say about Helgrim it is that he can do the impossible,"she tried to convince them one last time.
