Our Favorite Things

This one holds some real sentimental value for me, it's my childhood written in song form <3

Half a lifetime ago I moved from California to this quaint little place known as the Inland Northwest. From suburban life to country, it was almost a culture shock but in the best kind of way. We ended up learning to ride horses, harvest from u-pick farms, raise chickens, grow gardens, drive about a mile out onto a gorgeous prairie where Eagles flew above and Elk passed through in the winter and fall.

One day my family and I were busy canning peaches and there's this thing we learned about the jars... if they're not hot when you put them in the water bath the glass bottom of the jar will break and all those hard earned, packed peaches will go floating about in the water, ruined. It was so frustrating after a long day working in the hot kitchen! We had watched the Sound of Music not long before this project, so while we worked and hoped that such would not be the fate of this batch of peaches we came up with this version of the classic song, Our Favorite Things

Our Favorite Things- The Sound of Music

(revised to fit my quaint little corner of the world ^^)

Saddled up Horses

And Ripe Huckleberries

First snow on the mountain

And 'Pitt Spit' with Cherries

Bright Golden Tamaracks

Bulbs in the Spring

These are a few of our Favorite Things

Little green Hummingbirds

Black and White Kittens

Fields dotted with Elk Herds

And eggs from our chickens

Screech owls that screech in the

Dead of the night

These things help us to get over our frights!

When the bugs bite,

When the jars break,

When We're feeling mad

We Simply remember our favorite things

And then we don't feel,

So bad.

Summer storms billow

in Flashes of Thunder!

Whitney and Muffin

The deck they are under

June Bugs that come in the mid of July

They flap their wings.....

But they sure cannot fly!

Monty our Maincoon

A snow laden Gale

Hikes through the forest

Turkeys and Quail

Chickens a' roosting,

The Dinner bells' Ring

These are a few of our favorite things!

Ten and one acres for all of the berries

Calvary Chapel,

Green Bluff

And The Prairie

Hansens for Apples

And Yokes for Ice Cream,

These are a few of our Favorite things!

When the bugs bite,

When the jars break,

When we're feeling mad

We simply remember our favorite things

And then we don't feel,

So bad!
