"It's spring on earth!" God sang as she pranced around the glittering white clouds in her golden Chambers above the white fields and city of floating souls and angels.
"I know you're excited, but I don't think you should wear that to earth," Gabrielle chuckled as he looked up from his clipboard.
God twirled around in her obnoxiously long skintight gown of dazzling rubies and diamonds. "I can wear whatever I want and this looks good on me."
"Nature is a simple God. He might freak out if you go down there dressed like that."
God's smile grew even wider and her golden eyes sparked in a devilish gleam. "Nate has seen me in my full regalia and he fell in love with me. He's not a simple God like you angels think. He wouldn't be the father of life if he weren't complex. Not that I need him to be," she sighed, blinking her eyes and changing her outfit to a short strapless deerskin dress that complimented her dark brown skin. "But there's no sense in ruining my gems in the forest. Too much fabric will get in the way," she said, braiding her tightly curled brown hair down her back. "Oh I can't wait! Six months is far too long to live without him. It's so unfair," she whined.
"That is the way it has to be," Gabriel shrugged, holding out a crown of fragrant red and orange lilies for her head. "If you didn't leave him to rest, the earth wouldn't have enough nutrients to keep its cycle of life going. Remember what happened last time? You two killed the dinosaurs, Nature fell asleep too long and covered the earth with ice. Let's not do that again. I really don't want you going back to Hell, okay?"
God pursed her lips as she fastened the crown atop her head. It was quite the disaster when Nature slept for too long. Not only did the earth fail to flourish but she became a bit restless and reckless. There's a reason humans believe in heaven and hell and until she met Nature, she didn't see how beautiful the life forces that inhabited the earth could be.
God liked to toy with them, but Nature taught her how to care for them and learn to love them through his eyes. "Yes, yes, I know. I'll come back in six months." She turned to the brown skinned angel wrapped in golden robes, with his braided fiery red hair a stark contrast against his pure white wings. "Keep the angels in check while I'm gone. No crazy parties like last time and don't let Constantine drink his weight in holy water and let the souls out again. I will not be coming back to deal with that," she huffed.
Gabrielle blushed, hanging his head. "Yes, ma'am we'll be good. Well, better than last time at least. Have fun and tell Nature we say hello."
"Will do!" She smiled, waving her hand over herself and disappearing in a cloud of dust and starlight.
God reappeared in the middle of the Brazilian rainforest fully prepared to greet her lover after the long cold six months of winter. The spring and summer were the only time they were allowed to be together and it's the reason why the animals, plants, and even humans mate during the spring and summer because God and Nature come together and make harmony.
She frowned looking around the forest for Nature. She breathed in the scent of the humid air. Panic washed over her at the stench of distress and the sound of a howling jaguar in the distance. She gasped and ran toward the heartbreaking sound. "Nature! Nate!" she screamed, calling out to him but silence returned her call. The birds squawked their displeasure and the foliage whispered of humans taking a life.
Tears pricked her eyes as she burst through the clearing to the rushing waterfalls where Nate liked to bathe. A small female jaguar was pressing her head against the limp form of a male who God recognized as Jay, Nate's best friend and the one she'd chosen to be his guardian.
"Oh no, Jay!" she cried, rushing to his side. The young female pressed her head against God's shoulder.
They killed him. Humans did this.
"I can save him, Pria," she said as her hands shook and glowed over the bullet wound in his neck. "Wh-where's Nature?"
Pria growled and bared her fangs as she sat back on her haunches.
I don't know. I heard guns and found Jay like this.
Jay stirred and sucked in a deep breath as life returned to his body.
The humans in white coats. Scientists. They took Nature.
"Where? Where did they take him?" she said, rubbing her hands over his fur to remove the remnants of blood from his pelt.
I don't know, but I still have their scent. Take it from me. Jay said, lifting his head and letting out a long breath into her face.
God breathed in the scent of the humans and her eyes widened at the visions that flowed through her mind. Nate frozen in the water, his green eyes filled with fear and pain. The faces of the humans that tied him up and took him away in a glass cylinder.
God's lips curled into a snarl and the ground shook beneath them as fire licked over her skin. "Thank you," she growled, standing from the forest floor. The crown of flowers around her head turned black and burned. "You have served your God well. Bless you both, " she said as her deerskin dress burned away from her body and was replaced by red iridescent scales that covered her chest and torso. A thin spiked tail curled out from her back side and black horns sprouted from her head. "I will bring Nature back where he belongs."
God, you've been gone for two freaking minutes! Why is heaven burning?! Gabriel shrieked in her mind.
Humans have taken my Nature. Hell will walk the earth until I find him.
Aw, fuck! Wait for us to get there before you start teaching lessons.
Well then you better hurry.
God disappeared in a cloud of fire and smoke.
