CHAPTER THIRTEEN
"What's happening here?" Christopher asked a couple of women who gathered at the edge of the square.
"Haven't you heard? Someone told the king that a young lady knew who the Night Phantom is. They say that she wouldn't tell who he is so the King ordered her execution here."
"Who is the lady? Do you know who she is?" he was panicking...
"We heard her name was Elizabeth from the downtown library."
'No...'
Christopher ran back to his house. He stormed inside the house to find William lying on the couch.
"Was this your doing?"
"Maybe, maybe not."
"She is innocent and you know that."
"But it isn't a lie. In truth she does know the Night Phantom."
"I never told her who I really am."
"Oh boo... That's what you get for being disobedient."
Christopher couldn't contain his anger any longer. He grab hold of William's collar and threw him to the floor. William hit the coffee table and broke a couple of cups. Christopher picked him up by the collar and pushed him to the wall, eyes sharp with anger.
"There is nothing you can do to stop this."
Christopher took out his dagger and placed it under William's chin.
"Killing me would just be a waste of time. There is one thing you can do though. Appear at the execution area as the Night Phantom and save her."
Christopher punched him hard until he fainted. He took out his costume and headed to the square.....
===============
"I'll give you one last chance... Who is the Night Phantom?" the king asked.
"I know nothing!" Elizabeth was tied up and breathing heavily. She didn't know why she deserved to die when she knows nothing about the Night Phantom.
"Men! Light up the pyre!"
The soldiers lit the mount of dried grass and twigs that resembles a huge bonfire with Elizabeth at the top.
Then suddenly, a strong gust of wind blew out the fire. The soldiers readied their arms and looked around. The guards near the king are alert themselves. An evil laugh resonated in the silence. Elizabeth looked around until she once again froze... The Night Phantom is behind her. She felt the rope tied around her loosen and the Night Phantom's hand touch her cheeks.
"Forgive me, flower."
