CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Running seems to be the only option for Christopher. With Elizabeth fainted behind him, he used the smoke bomb trick to disappear quickly and to let no one follow him. He reached his home and found William no longer there. He placed Elizabeth on the bed where he laye her the night he killed the princess.

A few hours passed and Elizabeth finally regained consciousness. She looked at Christopher silently.

"I demand an explanation."

"You have the right to know."

It only took awhile to explain everything to Elizabeth and she started sobbing.

"I'm so sorry."

"There is no use for your sorry. She's dead. I almost died before you saved me. I thank you, yes, but I couldn't forgive you for what you did..."

"I figured you wouldn't... I accepted that already."

Elizabeth thought for a moment and then she asked, "Why did you let me go that night?"

"Simply because you are not the princess."

"Then why did you come the next day? When I was at the library."

"Because that night when I killed her, I wasn't thinking about the princess. I was thinking of you. I looked into your eyes and got drowned. I couldn't forget you."

Silence filled the air. Elizabeth is confused... She didn't have anything else to do but to run away. This man she loves, this man she really adores, is the princess' assassin...
