What's the chance you could meet for lunch today?
Brielle smiled at the text that came across the lock screen of her phone as it sat on her bathroom counter. Quickly leaning forward, she spit the toothpaste threatening to spill down her chin into the sink and patted her lips dry with the hand towel that hung next to the counter.
She was quick to grab her keys and purse to make it to the train on time, smiling down at the text still displayed on her phone as she walked down the sidewalk. She walked a little faster than usual, an extra little pep in her step from Harry's suggestion of a lunch date.
It had been three days since their date and she couldn't help but feel the tiniest bit antsy to see him again. Just to be in his presence, to smell his cologne and sit next to him to feel the body heat that radiates from him. It was so much more in person. How did she ever think that keeping him at a distance, keeping the barrier of a phone and miles between them, could somehow be better than this.
I can probably sneak away. There's a cafe down the street from my office. Could you meet me there around 1?
And good morning :)
She hit send just as her train pulled up, quickly shuffling on and sitting in her usual spot by the door. Her heart fluttered at the thought of being able to see him in a few hours. She had a busy day ahead of her and was excited to be able to break up her afternoon. Her hour lunch break would give her plenty of time, the cafe only a short walk for her.
Good morning gorgeous
Send me the address. I'll be there 1 sharp :)

The bell of the cafe chimed as she opened the door, immediately seeing Harry starting to stand from the corner booth he was saving. He was dressed simply, clad in a pair of black jeans, a grey ACDC tee shirt and brown leather boots. His hair was in soft curls again, loosely falling past his shoulders and framing his face. Overall though, he looked laid back and much more comfortable than their last encounter.
"Hi," she smiled as she approached him.
"Hi love," he spoke as he leaned in to kiss her cheek before motioning for her to sit down across from him in the cozy booth.
"Ever been here before?"
"I haven't," he shook his head as he looked down at his menu.
"It's so good. I come here a lot," she chuckled.
The waitress greeted them, taking their drink orders before giving them some time to look over the menu.
"What do you suggest?" He spoke slowly, pouring the words from his mouth as if he was in slow motion.
She couldn't help but notice and appreciate how he spoke. Unhurried, relaxed, calm. She loved it over the phone but loved it even more in person, being able to see the way his lips curved around each word, making it hard for her to concentrate.
"Um, I usually do the steak and arugula sandwich. But the turkey club is good too," she spoke quickly, the way he intently gazed at her as he leaned his elbows on the table made her heart flutter.
"Steak and arugula it is," he confirmed as he closed his menu and leaned back in the booth.
She leaned forward this time as she peered at him before she spoke. "This was an impromptu lunch date."
