''It's going to be fine'' said Lane
"FINE?! FINE?! sorry have you met my grandparents?" you asked your girlfriend. "They are going to judge us and question you.'' you told her
''oh'' she said
''you know my mom can probably still get us out of this'' you told her
''no we are going to go in there and not give 7 shades of shit about what they think'' she says to you
''wow I'm not even that confident. And i've known them for years'' you told her
~~time skip to friday night because i'm lazy~~
''okay so this is the plan we're going in and out as quick as humanly possible. Kapeesh?'' you asked your girlfriend. Lane looked at you and said ''kapeesh.''
The maid opened the door and you handed her your coats. you walked into the living room where Emily and Richard were waiting.
''hey mom, dad'' said Your mother ''Hello Lorelai" they both said
"hey grandma and grandpa" said your sister Rory "Hello Rory'' they both said
"Hey grandma, grandpa. This is my girlfriend Lane Kim'' you told them. ''It's a pleasure to meet you both'' Lane told them. you knew you really dissapointed them this time when you saw your grandmothers yaw clench, but for some reason you saw your grandfather looking content... and amused??
''So... What can I get everyone'' said your grandmother ending the akward silence.
''a martini please'' your mother said
''just a soda please'' Rory said
''a soda sounds good'' you said ''uh-h-hhh I'll also have a soda'' said your girlfriend affraid to say anything wrong.
''okay one martini and three soda's coming up''
~~time skip to dinner~~
''So... Lane what do you wan't to do with your life?'' your grandmother asked your girlfriend. 'oh boy' you thought.
''Well me and my mother have very different ideas of what I'm going to do with my life'' Lane told your grandma.
''really how so?'' she asked Lane
''Well my mother wants me to go to a christian college, get married with a guy of her choice, have kids. You know live a perfect little christian life. But I on the other hand... I want to become a drummer, make tours around the world, fall in love with the people I want, maybe marry, and maybe have kids.'' Lane told your grandma.
''A drummer you say?'' your grandfather asked.
''yes I'm already in a band with great people, and I think we've got real potential'' she told him
''you know I myself am a big fan of Chuck Berry'' he told her
''Chuck Berry really? You know I could make a list of things I think you would enjoy, and when it's done Y/N can bring it by'' she said to him
''well I would really enjoy that" he told her.
''Lane what are you going to do when this whole drumming thing of yours doesn't work out?'' your grandmother asked your girlfriend.
''umm... well I have a job at a diner so I always have incomings, and I am saving up money as a safety net. I have a home with my other bandmates and if we can't afford that anymore Lorelai told me I'm always welcome there'' she told your grandmother. Richard smiled to himself as he heard how prepared the both of you were.
''alright, and is this job of yours going to be enough to support you ánd Y/N? and this possible family?''
''uhmmm well not for long but as I said I am saving money'' Lane tried convincing your grandmother
you were watching in shock hearing what your grandmother was saying to your girlfriend.
''well that simply won't be enough''she told Lane bitterly
"you know what?! I've had enough! You will not just sit here and insult my girlfriend, who by the way is brilliant and talented in what she does, and you don't even know her. you haven't seen her play. And just so you know we don't need your 'golden stamp of approval'. Because we are going to be who we are, and love who we love wether that is a guy, a girl or a person, because we are enough!'' you shouted at your grandmother standing up for your girlfriend.
''you will not yell at me in my own house young lady!'' she yelled back at you
''you know what we're leaving!'' you yelled
''oh no young lady you are not!''
''oh yes I am because I don't need your money so I am not obliged to come!''
the two of you grabbed your coats and left the house. once you were outside you told Lane ''well that's my crazy family in a nutshell'' she giggled at your comment and asked ''did you mean all the stuff you said about me in there'' ''ofcourse I did. I wouldn't trade you for anything in the world. You know I was gonna ask you something tonight'' you told her
''well ask it'' she said to you
you got a small juwellery box out of your pocket and asked ''Lane Kim will you make me the happiest woman on earth and marry me?''
she gasped and said ''YES''
you put the ring around her finger and kissed her.
''now how about we celebrate this special occasion with a good date?''
''sounds good''
