I think I'm falling in
I think I'm falling in love with you

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The remainder of the days and nights flew by, until it was time for a last dinner feast before the attack of Kattegat. Slowly and with each passing day, Alasia's unease grew and now that she was sitting next to Hvitserk around the table, pricking away at the meat that lay in front of her, there was not a smile that could break her face. She had a bad feeling about the battle tomorrow, especially after the peace talks had ended with Ivar throwing his horn of ale in Ubbe's face with the promise of Lagertha's death.

She had been at Hvtiserk's side, which had earned her the risen eyebrows from multiple people on the other side of camp, but her eyes had been plastered on Ivar the entire time. Never before had she seen him so murderous, not when he watched King Aelle getting blood-eagled, not when he had murdered other Saxons. The glint in his dangerously blue eyes was one she'd rather not see again, for it truly proved he possessed the wrath of an angel, fallen though it may be.

"Are you okay?" Hvitserk whispered softly in her ear. His blue eyes were worried and plastered on the side of her face.

She let out a sigh and when she blinked, she could see the dead bodies of Liv and Svent laying in the grass. "I have a bad feeling about tomorrow," she said, which was the truth. Looking up, she watched Hvitserk's face twist into a grimace.

"Did you dream of me or Imeldina? Of Ivar or your brother?" Hvitserk asked, his tone muffled.

She shook her head and tried to force a smile on her face. "I haven't dreamt at all," she lied. She noticed Ivar was staring at her from across the table and when she looked in his direction, his striking blue eyes flickered away. "Just a woman's worrying heart."

"Adelasia," Queen Astrid said formally, joining in on the conversation suddenly. Her eyes were sly and narrowed and Alasia noticed that the woman hadn't eaten a single bite despite the fact that she was now eating for two. For that latter announcement a big feast had been thrown, though left unattended by the said persons. "What do you call it in your faith when you sleep with a man that isn't your husband?"

Frowning, Alasia lowered her hands and straightened her spine ever so slowly. She resisted the urge to look in Ivar's direction, for there was no doubt in her mind that this was meant as a dig in her direction. She wasn't exactly sure what she had done to push Queen Astrid in such a corner to act out at her and so she decided to play dumb. "It's called adultery and it's a grave sin," she replied, her voice levelled. She did not make the mistake to ask what the reason behind the question was, but instead turned to King Harald with the same coy expression on her face. "King Harald, now that we are talking about crimes, I have been wondering for quite some time if crimes and wrongdoings are punished similarly in every kingdom. After all, I am to marry a Viking and I would make a bad wife if I did not learn about the Viking way."
