I jumped from my sleep to see Legolas staring down at me.

"Gracie, are you alright?"

"No, I just had the strangest dream."

"Care to talk about it?"

"It was the most embarrassing thing Legolas." I covered my face with my hands.

"Oh?"

"I was home, and chickens were attacking the kingdom. I was fighting one of the chickens and oh never mind.'

"Who won? You or the chicken?"

"The chicken won and it was the most humiliating thing ever!"

Legolas flopped on his back while dying with laughter.

"It is not funny Legolas! I've never been more embarrassed in my life."

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I shouldn't be laughing."

"I knew about the pregnancy dreams but I didn't think they'd be this bad." I groaned. Then I noticed it was daylight. "I suppose we should go join the others."

"Tell Mithrandir I don't want to elf today." He put an arm over his eyes.

"Oh? You tell him yourself." I tickled him. I don't want to insert a word today expression had been adopted by my husband from me.

He leaned over and kissed my ear. "I would but." He peppered my ears with kisses. "The wizard can be quite intimidating."

I gave an amused chuckle. A wave of dizziness overtook me as I sat up. I massaged the sides of my head. "Oh."

"Are you alright darling?" Legolas asked anxiously.

"Morning sickness is going to be the bane of my existence."

"Well, I suppose it is a blessing in disguise. It means things are normal."

"You try being pregnant and tell me how normal this feels."

Legolas laughed. "Alright alright. I'm sorry."

I crawled back over to him and rested my head on his shoulder. "You're forgiven."

He closed his eyes and rested a hand on my abdomen. "I can't wait."

"Well, you're going to have to. I understand, I'm excited!" I frowned. "And also very nervous."

Legolas kissed me. "I am as well but have faith, everything is going to be alright."

Gimli sat on the steward's throne smoking his pipe as Gandalf paced the marble floors. Legolas stood with his arms crossed and I stood beside him with my hands folded in front of me. Eomer observed the wizard.

"Frodo has passed beyond my sight," Gandalf stated at last. "The darkness is deepening."

"If Sauron had the ring we would know it," Aragorn replied.

"It is only a matter of time."

I moved my hand to my stomach which drew Legolas's attention. I smiled and stepped forward to stand closer beside him.

"He has suffered a defeat yes, but behind the walls of Mordor our enemy is regrouping."

"Let him stay there, let him rot," Gimli said. "Why should we care?"

"Because 10,000 orcs stand between Frodo and Mount Doom." The Wizard stated. I frowned and looked at my feet.

"I've sent him to his death," Mirthrandir said sadly.

"No. There is still hope for Frodo. He needs time and safe passage across the Plains of Gorgoroth, we can give him that." The heir of Elendil stated calmly.

I felt a deep fear creep through my veins. "How?"

"Draw out Saurons armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength and march on the black gate."

"That is madness," Amrathan stated. His father agreed.

"We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms," Eomer said.

"Not four ourselves. We can give Frodo his chance if we keep Sauron's eye fixed upon us." Aragorn turned to face us. "Keep him blind to all that moves."

"A diversion." My husband stated. Then he gave me a scared look. I grabbed his hand and leaned into his shoulder.

"Certainty of death, small chance of success, what are we waiting for?" Gimli huffed.

"Sauron will suspect a trap. He will not take the bait." Gandalf said uncertainly.

"Oh, I think he will," Aragorn stated cooly.

Legolas pulled me out of the throne room and down a hall as everyone rushed around. The remaining soldiers were preparing for battle. Our last battle if all went south. My husband led me into our room and shut the door. I had tears leaking down my cheeks as he turned to me.

"Legolas I'm scared." I wrapped my arms around myself. He rushed to hug me and I buried my face in his neck. His arms wrapped me tightly with his hand resting on my stomach.

"I wish this wasn't happening. I wish we could be home with our family living like we used to."

"I know, as do I. I wish you and the baby weren't caught in the middle of this treachery. You should be at home resting not fighting a war."

"What would you have me do?"

"I only wish I could ensure your safety. It is driving me mad, this uncertainty."

"What can we do?"

"I will not ask you to stand with me. I will fight this alone." He stated sadly.

"I know you would."

"It is wise you return home. Sauron will be distracted and the way will be open."

"Part of me knows you're right but either way Legolas, I will die." I frowned. "If I lose you, I will die. If Sauron wins, we will both die."

"Death is indeed coming from all sides."

"Then let us defeat the one who desires nothing more than to hand it to us," I stated as confidently as I could. I pulled his hands to my stomach. "For them." He knelt in front of me and leaned into my stomach while hugging me.

"The sun seems to have lost its warmth and all seems to have darkened but the moon still pulls the tide and the trees grip their earthy home. Let us be rid of the filth that threatens it." Legolas stated.

"If we go down, we go down together."

"We go down fighting." Legolas stood and smiled.
