Dark-Owl Part 2
As the night continued, Max ran out of the apartment building, and began to run to the police station. Commissioner Joseph Clark was inside, talking to some swat members. "I want you to search night and day for Immortal and Red Eagle" said Clark. "The two are actual citizens, so they have to be in one of these households." "Yes sir" said the team. "They have great tech" said Clark. "So, you should start with the mansions first. Immortal's probably a rich guy."
The team broke apart, as Max approached Clark. "Sir" he said. "Who are you?" Clark asked, putting a file down. "I'm Max McCormick" he said urgently. "And, I don't think that Immortal is a bad person. Can you tell me why you believe so?" "I can't" said Clark. "I'm sorry, son."
"Sir" said Max. "Immortal saved my life from a man that had a gun to my head. I don't even know him, he doesn't know me. I doubt that he even knows half of the people in this city. But, sir, I know the things that he has done. He has saved countless of lives over the past year that he has been in action. He is not a bad person sir. He's saved your life, my life, and everybody in this city. I believe you are wrong."
Clark sighed, before saying "He disobeyed my orders, almost killed one of the greatest men I know Arnold Raleigh, he injured many of my men, and he said that this city was now cursed because I wouldn't do what he said. He threatened me and this city, and I cannot let him make that threat a reality." Max's heart dropped, as Clark said "Go home and get some rest son. Thank you for expressing your concern, but you are wrong." Clark grabbed his file and walked off, as Max sighed.
He stepped outside, as he spotted several swat trucks driving off. He sighed, before running after them. He followed several up to the rich part of the city, where he saw dozens of mansions. They stopped at every house, going in and searching for Immortal. Soon, Max spotted a swat van pull in front of Nick Harris' house. He ran over and saw George, Nick's butler, pull the door opened. The swat members pushed him aside and asked "Who else is here?" "The owner of the house is not here" said George. "He's gone to visit a friend in New York." The swat pushed him to the ground, and began searching the house.
"HEY" Max shouted, running over. The swat had George on his knees, as Max said "You're holding an older man at gunpoint. What is this?" "Step back" said the swat member. He aimed the gun at Max, who said "If you want to keep the peace in this city, you wouldn't point guns at its citizens."
The swat member stared menacingly at Max, as another man came out and said "There's no one here." The man with the gun sighed, before saying "Let's move on." He brushed against Max, who looked angered, as the swat team got in the van and drove off.
Max gave a cup of tea to George, who sat at the counter. "Those men are not right" said George. "They've been paid off. Clark would never let those men be on his force. Raleigh probably employed them." "Why Raleigh?" asked Max, sitting down. George looked at Max, and said "Haven't you heard the accusation from Immortal and Red Eagle? That Raleigh is crooked, and is planning something evil." "So, you still believe in Immortal, too" said Max. George looked at him, and said "I thought I was the only one."
He took a sip of the tea, as Max asked "Where is Nick?" George looked up at max, and said "Master Harris is visiting a friend in New York. He'll be gone for a little while." Max looked unconvinced, as George said "He never mentioned you." Max nodded and said "We don't really talk at work."
