Immortal And The Blue Jay Part 1

Nick Harris sat on the large couch rubbing his temple and staring into his friend Sam Williams face who was staring straight back at him. Sam had figured out Nick was the superhero Immortal and Nick couldn’t imagine how. They had been staring at each other for ten minutes and George the butler thought it was awkward so he decided to break the silence by bringing in tea and saying “I thought you would enjoy this.” Nick nodded, took a sip of his tea, and continued the stare.

George sat on the couch and said “So, Sam, how did you figure this out?” Sam glanced at George and back at Nick and said “I saw him get out of his suit once.” “Ah” said Nick. “Gotta be careful next time.” “Well” said Sam, now acting like he was invested in a conversation. “I want to help you.”

Nick made a little snort and said “You want to help me.” “Yes” Sam said. Nick’s face became serious and said “What could you possibly do to help me?” “I could help you fight crime” said Sam very slowly, acting like he wanted to say that the entire time. “What, like a sidekick?” asked Nick snorting some more. “What would you call yourself? Mortal.” Sam shook his head. “I’m sure I’d be able to come up with something” said Sam. “Well” said Nick. “I need to process this so I’m going to bed. Sam, I’d like you to leave.” Sam glanced at the door and then at Nick and George. Sam nodded, stood up and walked out the door, leaving the room he just left in complete silence.

Nick woke up the next day on his couch and looked around. The clock he glanced at said 12:30. “No” he said getting up and running up to his room. He got into his uniform and ran out to his car. He didn’t see Julia on his way out which made him sad, but he had to get to work.

He pulled up and ran inside. All the people stared at him as he ran towards the doors that led to the secret testing chamber. He ran in and saw Blanket, Sam and Frank. “HARRIS” shouted Blanket. “What are you doing here?” “I’m sorry” said Nick. “I over slept and I-” “Harris” said Blanket. “You don’t look well. You should head home. I’m giving you the day off.” Blanket was right. Nick didn’t feel like himself ever since Sam told him he knew who he was. The next thing Nick knew, he was in his car driving home.

Nick drove into his driveway and sat in his car for a few moments. He thought about the Techno Genius who was still on the loose. He thought about kissing Julia. He thought about his identity being exposed. He thought about it all. His eyes started to go dim as he was pulled into a deep sleep.

Nick sat in a red seat. It was a seat made of rock. Fire spread around him as his Immortal suit came on. He punched the Bison and the Techno Genius. Then a shadowy figure appeared in front of him, then blond hair jumping out a window, a man in a hood and then a loud tap. Nick jerked his head up from his sleep and looked at Julia tapping on his window.

He stepped out of the car, rubbed his eyes and looked at Julia. “Yeah” he said. “Well” she said. “You were screaming in your car so I thought you were having a bad dream.” “I was” he said. “What was I screaming?” “Immortal” she said. His eyes widened, but she didn’t seem to notice. “Oh, well thanks for waking me up.” She nodded and started to walk away. “Julia?” he asked. She turned to face him. “You want to go get some lunch?” he asked. She smiled and nodded.

The two sat in a diner near City Hall. They were talking about the night before with the Techno Genius. She kept asking where he had gone and he unconvincingly made up where he went. As there food came to them, Nick noticed something on a rooftop. He saw a giant robot and a pale man putting a head on him. It was the Techno Genius. “Oh god” he said.
