"So... what do you say? You in?" the winged hero asked as he stretched out his hand toward me.

In all my time, I have never been in an impasse between a decision before.
I vowed never to go through with what I've been through again.
However, if it is meant to be my last mission, then what choice do I have, right?
Perhaps you may not understand what I'm struggling with at first.
Maybe I'm not showing you what I'm working with here.
So, let me refresh what I've been through from the very beginning.

I worked for the Hero Commission as long as I could remember. During that time, I worked with another hero in training: Kaina Tsutsumi. While she was best at target practicing, I was struggling with my flying skills from the ground at first. All my life, the Commission has taught me the tricks and tips inside and out. So much, I could uncover all their secrets easily if I wanted to. I was considered in their eyes the perfect prodigy. That was until he came along. I should know because I remembered it all too well.

One night, as I was outside, practicing my quirk, Angel Wings, for retrieving items at will, the commission came to me with a small boy next to them. He was about my age at the time, with red wings on his back, holding an Endeavor plush in his hands.

"YN," the Commission introduced, "this here will become your new apprentice to train with for the time being. Be on your best behavior, understand?"

I only looked at him and back at the Commission. While I barely spoke a few words to them, they left him alone with me as they returned to their office. The silence drew across the room as he and I stared at each other.

"So..." I began quietly. "What's your quirk?"

He didn't speak.
He only held on to the Endeavor toy lightly.

"Not a big fan of talking, huh?"

He nodded.

At least he can understand yes or no questions. I thought to myself.

"If you don't mind me asking, then why are you here?" I asked him.

He didn't say anything again, holding on to the toy a bit tighter.

"If it's a sore subject, I understand. I won't pry on the subject anymore."

He smiled at me.

My heart started to flutter lightly from his smile but shook it off since emotions were unacceptable in this work environment. We had to focus on the mission we were assigned and more.

"Okay... Well, if you don't mind, I'm going to go back to practicing. You can join in if you want."

I turned away from him as I was practicing my quirk. During that time, he was looking at my white pale wings carefully. He could tell how well I cleaned and take care of my wings properly just by the coating of the oil until it was fully preened. As he continued to examine my feathers, I was still struggling to grab the item in question. Unfortunately, they weren't moving toward the item at all. Instead, it stayed still completely, blown away from the wind all around me. In frustration, I sat on the ground with my wings covering my body entirely. As I was about to give up, a small red feather held onto a piece of napkin to wipe the tears from my eyes. In shock, I looked at the feather in question and noticed Keigo holding a small tissue box with his other feather.

"How are you doing that?" I asked him.

He didn't answer as his feather returned the tissue box where it was before.

How can his quirk have more potential skills than mine? I contemplated internally. The Commission must truly see him as gifted as me.

"Hey, can you use your quirk to get me that cookie?"

Without saying a word, he used his feather on command to grab two cookies from the cookie jar. One was for me and the other for him.
Just then, I escorted him to a seat next to him.

Surprisingly, he agreed and sat right next to me.
In silence, we started eating the cookie and look towards the starry sky right above us.

"You know what?" I spoke with cookies in my mouth. "You should be my practice partner."

He looked at me in surprise as he took a bite of the cookie in his mouth.

"Yeah. Once you train with the Commission for a little while, I can train with you separately, and we can work together as a team. Would that be okay with you?"

He nodded slowly.

"Great! We're going to be such best friends!"
B... best... friends." he spoke quietly.

I looked at him as he smiled gently like he was given the best gift no one has ever given before. My heart slowly started to flutter again, but I had to shake off this emotion. I couldn't let it affect my work.

"So... uh... what do they call you?"
"K- Keigo." he mumbled.
"Keigo, huh? Cool name."
"T-thanks."
"By the way, where'd you get that Endeavor plush?"

We started to have a bit of small talk while eating the cookie quietly. Slowly, it was a very successful first impression at the time. As we were about to leave for the night, I looked towards the sky, making a solemn vow to the stars. While working with the Commission, no matter what happens, we will always work together through thick and thin. What I didn't expect at the time was our acquaintance encounter became the line where our troubles began.

Here's a summary of YN:

Your quirk is Angel. Similar to Fierce Wings, your wings are more intent 5 weapons and shields than the extensive parts of your mind. During your training, you have been trained to control a person's mind entirely with your feather if held for bad intentions. However, if held for good intentions, your dream can become a reality and will come true when the time is right. When you sang, you were told by others you had the voice of an angel, making men and women fall to their knees, literally.

Your Hero's name is Tenshi (meaning Heaven's Gift). While you don't consider yourself a Pro Hero like Keigo Takami, you try to bring peace to the citizens of Japan but are considered a side hero for the Hero Commission. And when you aren't working at top dangerous jobs as a hero, you enjoy doing small side jobs, like infiltrating yakuza gangs, getting black market secrets, etc.

Your relationship between you and Keigo will remain under wraps for the time being (until you continue reading the chapters even further). Don't want to spoil the surprise too early, now do we? If you want more stories like this or have any suggestions, please message me through DM, and I will do my best to make your dream a reality!
