[NEW, EDITED AND IMPROVED VERSION]

She frowned, staring at the mysterious gift box resting on the table beside her bed. Her heart raced. The house was locked. No one should have been able to enter. Who had placed it there? Was it Alex? Maybe he’d left it during his last visit… but she hadn’t seen it before.

Taking slow, hesitant steps toward the box, she gulped, her fingertips barely grazing its surface. The white lace tied around it was delicate, almost beautiful—too perfect for something that sent a chill down her spine. Her hands trembled as she untied the ribbon and peeled away the wrapping. The lid creaked open.

Her breath caught in her throat. Tears gathered in her eyes as she stared at the contents. A familiar necklace lay inside—the one Yuki always wore. But it was stained, dripping in crimson. Her name, "Y.U.K.I," was etched into the charm, now smeared with what smelled unmistakably like blood. Metallic. Fresh.

She stumbled back, nearly dropping the box, her pulse hammering in her ears. Her mind screamed with questions, fear tightening its grip on her chest. Who had done this? Why here? Why her? The air seemed to thicken, suffocating her.

Without thinking, she grabbed her phone and bolted from the house, slamming the door shut behind her. Her shaky hands locked it in a frenzy before she sprinted to the only place that felt even remotely safe—Zeus’s house.

Her fingers jammed the doorbell repeatedly, panic bubbling over. After what felt like forever, Zeus opened the door, a wide smile on his face.

“Y/N” he said smoothly, “what brings you here so late?”

She didn’t let him finish. Throwing herself into his arms, she clung to him like a lifeline. “Please… save me! Zeus, please!” Her voice broke with desperation.

His eyes gleamed for a fleeting second before he hid it behind a soft smile. Gently rubbing her back, he cradled her head. “Shh… it’s okay, I’ve got you,” he cooed. “Come inside, tell me everything.”

She nodded, her breath still ragged, and followed him in.

Zeus shut the door behind her, locking it with a soft click. His lips curled into a smirk she didn’t notice. Wasn’t this exactly what he wanted? For her to be so fragile, so broken that she had nowhere else to turn but him?

They sat on the couch, her body trembling as she recounted everything. Her voice cracked when she mentioned the necklace.

“Why are they targeting me?” she whispered, her eyes wide with terror.

He cupped her face gently, wiping away her tears. “Y/N” he said, his voice low and soothing, “they want to break you, to make you weak. But you won’t let them, right? You have me. You have Alex. You have Emma. Nobody can break you… except for me, of course.” The last part stayed silent in his head.
