Alex Jones was starting back in the Nypd today, more specifically, the 99th precinct in brooklyn. She had just finished an undercover operation with the fbi about a month ago

when she finished the operation, they gave her a choice of good recommendation within the police department or continued to work with the fbi and go back undercover with their new case. Alex, of course, took the first option deciding on heading to the nypd. She didn't care what precinct, just once she was in New york.

Alex locked the door of her small one bedroom apartment and walked down the hall towards the elevator she wore some black jeans with a large black utility belt that had a silver buckle at the front, on one side of the belt was a holster for her gun which was empty and on the other side was left empty as she planned on displaying her badge there.

To finish off her ensemble was a black shirt , the first three buttons were undone, and the sleeves were undone and rolled up just below her elbow. Her brown hair was loosely thrown into a ponytail, and her mother's ring was displayed around her neck on a petite silver chain

Alex walked out of the building and hailed a taxi. " The 99th precinct, please, " alex told the driver as he pulled out into the busy traffic. The journey to the precinct didn't take long.

The taxi pulled up onto the curb outside the precinct, and Alex leaned over the middle seat and grabbed her brown leather messenger bag. She quickly dug through the bags contents and pulled out a small black purse " how much do I owe you " Alex asked the driver And she unzipped the purse and pulled out 20 dollars " 19 " the driver replied turning around to face Alex.

Alex outstretched the 20$ to the driver. " Keep the change." she smiled as the driver took the 20$. She opened the door to the busy street and stepped out. With a spring in her step, she confidently walked toward the doors of the precinct and pushed open the door
She took one last deep breath before walking towards the doorway and pushing the door, walking into the reception. The smile on Alex's face grew as she recognised the faint smell of dried blood and sweat.

Alex approached the small brown haired woman behind the front desk she looked stressed, and she seemed to snap at everyone that approached her. Alex walked slowly towards the desk and placed her hand on the counter. " Is there anything I can do to help? " Alex asked the woman.
The woman stopped looking at Alex with an expression of shock. " I'm Alex Jones, the new Detective." Alex followed up just to make sure the woman knew she was there to help. " Can you bring these to Captain holts office please?" she asked, handing Alex a large stack of files and papers

" Of course! Now how do I get to his office " she asked with a smile small as she lifted the stack of papers " head to the elevator and go to the second floor then when you leave the elevator straight ahead is his office. Just check with Gina if he's free. She's the red head on the phone , I apologise in advance, " the woman finished up with a smile of gratitude

" Thank you so much," Alex smiled. She gave the receptionist a small wave and walked towards the elevator. Alex walked into the elevator and was just about to watch the doors close when someone else approached, so she quickly hit the button to open the doors back up. " Thanks," the small man said as the two waited in awkward silence till they both reached their destination on the second floor of the 99th precinct.

The door opened, and the man walked out of the door and headed toward one of the desks . Alex walked out of the elevator, almost bumping into someone who was in a standard police uniform. " sorry officer " Alex said as he walked past. She brushed off her previous nervousness and continued on her mission.

Alex did as the receptionist said, looking for the red head as she pushed open the gate into the bull pen. She carefully scanned the room, seeing the other detectives working or talking before she spotted the redhead among the crowd. A small smile grew on Alex's face as she confidently made her way towards Gina

" I was told to give these to you," Alex spoke as she went to hand over the papers. " Put them in there," Gina replied, pointing to the trashcan. " But that's the trash," Alex spoke as she looked at Gina, pointing before looking back to Gina. Her confusion was evident on her face as Gina responded, " Exactly," she said, exaggerating the word as she seemed to get lost in her phone
Alex just decided to put the papers on her empty desk before she asked the question she was here for " I'm here to meet with captain holt " Alex stated with a awkward smiled as she looked like a lost child " who dat ? " Gina replied

the words shocked. Alex had she just made a fool of hersel, it was captain holt right? , what if she got it wrong , then she would look dumb. Alex was snapped out of her panic as a man in suspenders approached her " ignore Gina she's just messing with you , captain holts in his office just there " the man pointed with an apologetic smile before glaring at Gina
" Thank you " Alex smiled glad she wasn't wrong and thankfully someone was there to help her otherwise she probably would have spiralled " I'm not joking " Gina sang in a high pitched voice as Alex walked towards the office knocking on the door

"Detective Jones it's a pleasure to meet you" captain holt spoke in his monotone voice his face showed no emotion as he stood up from his chair and walked around his organised desk to shake Alex's hand.

Alex shook the captains hand " please let's dicuss in private " he spoke releasing his firm grip and motioning for her to close the door as he went back to his chair to talk Alex through the team dynamic and rules

" its great to have you join our team " holt spoke as he motioned to the window into the bullpen " now we will get you to fill out your paperwork form x-56nk and 67bp and then the officers in the armoury will provide with your gun and badge

" Oh, I filed them last week. I just need to collect the gun, and I was told you'd provide the badge," Alex explained. She had been through the process before, and she will never forget the week that she started. She didn't have a gun or a badge so she was stuck with the most dreadful thing she had to do in her career a week of desk duty and she didn't plan on making the same mistake twice and she definitely didn't plan on doing desk duty again

" well then it seems your ready to start Detective Jones " holt explained slightly impressed that the Detective had the forms filled in and sent in a week ago usually he had to fast track the approval because the Detective filled it in on the first day on the job
" well then here's your badge and briefing is in ten minutes " holt told Alex as he opened the draw in his desk and handed her the badge " you can get your gun from Anderson after the briefing " holt added as Alex took the badge from his grasp and happily clipped it onto her belt as she stood up

Holt walked around the desk once again and opened the door for Alex " your desk is there" holt said pointing to the desk letting Alex leave the office before he spoke one final "briefing in ten " and with that he closed the door again and Alex was left on her own with a small group of Detectives trying to take subtle glances at her but failing miserable.
