DRAKE

The first thing I heard when I gained consciousness was my Mom's voice. She was talking to my sister—then Dad joined their conversation. I was afraid to open my eyes. What if I'm just imagining things? What if I'm dead and this just a trip down a memory lane before I really go?

But my throat got real itchy. I am alive—I can feel my thirst and extremely weak body.

"M-mom..." I feel feeble but I was able to move my head towards the room's seating area. Kumakain pala sila.

They all looked at me heartily. I have a lot of questions.

"Don't try to move, my dear son. Just stay put, we'll call the doctor first. Okay?" I nodded.

"Hey there." My sister started to cry.

"Ate Carla, hi," I grinned. My voice is hoarse and a drop of water could actually help me right now.

"Let's wait for the doctors, anak. I don't know if you can already," Mom answered. I smiled weakly.

Whichever it is, I know it's my fault. I should've been careful. I couldn't stop that time.

"We can talk about it whenever you are ready, Drake, okay?

Fuck, I've been out for four days already? Maraming bawal sa ngayon, mainly sa diet at activities.

Lahat kami ay nakinig ng husto. Nag-notes pa talaga ang Ate ko. Salitan din silang nagtanong. I don't want to expect, but I want them to take care of me.

It's overwhelming. Out of a sudden, my family is complete. I'm happy they didn't too. I want to savor this moment. We are all smiling and talking about fond memories.

"By the way guys, I'm two months pregnant. Rick's busy but he'll be here soon," anunsiyo ni Ate bigla habang kumakain kami.

"I'm going to be a grandpa!" Niyakap ni Dad ang Mom. What a great sight.

Dad volunteered to stay for the night. They didn't argue. I know Dad wants to talk to me too.

"Dad, I'm sorry," I said right away.

"Let's not talk about that now. I just want you to promise that you'll be careful." He sat on my bed, his face calm and voice steady.
