You never understood why Atobe Keigo, of all people, was so insistent on bothering you.

It wasn't as if you ever sought attention. You were fine being alone, focusing on your studies, and avoiding the chaos that came with school activities and clubs. Yet, for reasons beyond your comprehension, Hyotei Academy's most arrogant and flamboyant student had decided to make you his conquest.

"(L/N), you're ignoring me again," Atobe's smooth voice cut through the quiet of the school library.

You didn't even bother looking up from your book. "Because you're annoying."

"Tch. Ore-sama is not annoying." He pulled out the chair opposite you and sat down, completely ignoring the irritated glares of the other students who were trying to study. "I am merely intrigued by you."

"That's nice. You can be intrigued somewhere else."

"You wound me, (L/N)." He smirked, resting his chin on his hand. "But it makes sense. You're playing hard to get."

You sighed, finally looking up at him. "I'm not playing anything, Atobe. I just don't care."

He chuckled, as if amused by your response. "We'll see about that."

No matter what you did, he didn't give up.

Atobe tried every trick in the book—showing up at your classroom with extravagant gifts (which you immediately refused), offering to personally escort you to school in his limousine (which you ignored), and even calling you his 'queen' in front of everyone. It got to the point where people started gossiping about why he was wasting so much effort on you.

"You should just say yes to him, (L/N)," one of your classmates said during lunch. "I mean, he's rich, he's handsome, and he practically worships the ground you walk on."

You stabbed your food with a little more force than necessary. "I'd rather not boost his ego any more than it already is."

Yet, somehow, despite all your efforts, you found yourself giving in one day.

"Fine," you said, arms crossed. "One date. That's it."

Atobe's eyes lit up with triumph. "Splendid. Leave everything to me."

The day of the date arrived, and you were suspicious the moment Oshitari Yuushi and Mukahi Gakuto appeared at your doorstep.

"What is this?" you asked, narrowing your eyes at them.

"Instructions from Atobe," Oshitari said smoothly, adjusting his glasses. "Dress up and put this on." He handed you a silk blindfold.

Gakuto smirked. "Don't worry, you'll love it."

Against your better judgment, you complied. Once dressed, you allowed them to blindfold you, and soon, you felt yourself being led somewhere—probably in one of Atobe's ridiculously expensive cars.

After what felt like forever, they finally stopped. Gakuto untied your blindfold, and you blinked in surprise.

The rooftop of Hyotei Academy had been completely transformed.

Golden fairy lights twinkled above, casting a soft glow over the elegantly set table in the center. A cool breeze carried the scent of fresh flowers that were arranged in extravagant displays around the area. It was breathtaking.

Atobe stood at the center of it all, clad in a tailored black suit, looking every bit like the prince he thought himself to be.

You stared, at a complete loss for words.

"Well?" Atobe smirked. "Ore-sama does not disappoint, does he?"

You crossed your arms. "I never said I was impressed."

His smirk only grew. "Your silence speaks volumes, my dear." He extended a hand to you. "Shall we?"

With a sigh, you placed your hand in his, allowing him to guide you to the table. The meal, as expected, was extravagant—courses that looked like they belonged in a five-star restaurant, complete with a violinist playing in the background. You had to admit, for all his arrogance, Atobe knew how to make a statement.

"I still don't get it," you finally said as you poked at your dessert. "Why me? You could have anyone."

Atobe leaned back, gazing at you with an uncharacteristically serious expression. "Because you're the only one who doesn't fall at my feet. You don't pretend to be interested just because of my status. You're real."

You blinked, momentarily caught off guard by his sincerity. "...That's a terrible reason to date someone."

He laughed. "Perhaps. But it's the truth."

You sighed, shaking your head. "You're impossible."

"And yet, here you are," he teased, reaching over to tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear. "On a date with Ore-sama."

You rolled your eyes, but for once, you didn't push him away. Maybe—just maybe—Atobe Keigo wasn't as unbearable as you thought.
