LYDIA
Snickers turn into guffaws as she remembers what had happened yesterday.
"He looked so surprised!" She cries out, clutching her stomach as she bends over, laughing.
Rolling her eyes, Leah reaches across the girl to grab her water bottle, "You still stuck on that?" she raises a brow, her blue highlights gleaming under the fluroscent lighting of the kitchen.
Lydia sticks her tongue out at her in response, childish happiness gleaming in her eyes.
"Someone's happy today." Leah muttered, taking a swig of water, a sparkle catching her eyes as she gazed at her.
'Happy isn't exactly the word to describe it...' part of her mind uttered.
She doesn't exactly 'feel' anymore.
This is just what happens when all those thoughts that usually flood into every crevice of her mind dies down into a trickle.
Thoughts of how its all her fault.
Thoughts of how she doesn't deserve anything.
Thoughts of suicide.
"Now what happened, girlie pie?" Leah's eyebrows draw together in utter confusion at the girl's sudden change in mood.
She shook her head slightly to clear her mind, pushing a bright smile onto her face. She couldn't burden her with her troubles.
For that was all she was.
A burden.
"Ah, nothing. Just hungry for a donut, I guess." Lydia waved it off, a smile seamed onto her face.
Leah gave her a skeptical look, her eyes analyzing her face, before shrugging it off, playing it as if it was nothing.
But it was everything.
"You know, to get paid you can't just stare into space." A tap on her back jostled her our of her daze, Lydia swiveling around to see the bright eyes of the one and only-
"Hello to you too, Jared." She stated with a roll of her eyes, hopping off the counter.
"I know, I know, you missed me soooo much." his hand caught in his sandy blonde hair as he winked, a smirk attacking his lips.
Though many good retorts came to mind, Lydia merely waved him off, a small smile dominating her features.
After snatching her notepad and pen, she barged through the double doors of the kitchen into the dining area, her eyes darting around for people in need of a superhero.
Or waitress.
Same difference, really.
She's saving them from inevitable death
