the breaths in between the lines
of a song, the gasps escaping
so soft, so slow that it can hardly be made out.
if you listen close, you can hear the
buzz inside the head of the artist
who wrote the song, you can hear
the whistling of the winds which
beat against his frail heart.
if you listen close, you can hear
how every pause was never a void,
it held words which requires more
than just the ears to listen to them.
if you listen close, you can hear
the story behind every song,
the heartache, the longing,
the nostalgia, the breaking
and the healing, the making,
the courage, the beauty.
if you listen close, you can hear
something beyond just the song,
you can hear more than what was
meant to be sold out boxed in tapes.
if you listen close, you'll realise
even the silence speaks
but only if you listen close.
