"HEY, ROME, ARE YOU LISTENING?" I look beside me, of course, I'm listening, Ricky Bowen. Maybe I didn't for a second as I saw Mikey Stiles pass by, his head down low, probably afraid. I was tempted to chase him down the hall but he was moving too quickly, headed to his next class. Yesterday, he told me about the boy who anonymously harassed him in the locker room. I just wanted to hug him, but something told me that doing that would've made it worse. He didn't bother to tell me good morning today, something he always does whether it's over text or physically around the halls. I am so sorry Mikey Stiles.
"Yes, I'm listening." I replied as we turned to stop at my locker and I put in my combination, taking all the stuff I needed for my next couple of periods. Ricky hummed in response, realizing that I was on edge, I just wasn't feeling today.
"So, is that a yes or a no?" A chuckle falls from his mouth as I snapped my head in his direction. Caught in a lie, maybe I wasn't listening. I held a guilty look in my face and he deeply sighs. "Rome, are you alright?" I would usually be truthful considering the fact that I was always truthful with Ricky, but this was about Mikey, so I lie.
