Hi All,
          
          I hope you are all doing as well as can be in these uncertain times. Getting outside to walk under the trees- am reading Richard Powers book The Overstory just now and have a deep, new appreciation for trees- looking at art and reading are the things that keep me distracted. 
          
          Spending time with family and writing too of course, though during the work week it's always more of a challenge. What have you all been doing to keep distracted?
          
          Meanwhile, more chapters of ANTONIA are coming soon. I'm a little stuck in terms of telling the story as the first draft was originally a third person narration, but I've changed it to a first person voice which I prefer. 
          
          I'll get there, and hope you'll stick with me! Until then, I hope you all stay safe and have a good weekend.

          I've just posted two more chapters of ANTONIA, and I'm so grateful for your good reads! These two chapters set the scene a little more and I hope they give readers a better sense of the place- Caracas in the late 1700's!

          I hope you all had a good holiday weekend. I don't know that the rankings mean anything in the convoluted way the algorithms seem to work, but I'm happy to see that ANTONIA is ranked #207 out of 8K already for the rebellion tag.

Hi Dear Readers,
          
          I've finally taken the plunge- (very deep breath) I am posting a very different book from LARKSPUR MITTEL. I still plan to finish book 2 of LM, but in the meantime, this new novel has been waiting patiently on the sidelines for her turn to appear on Wattpad.
          
          ANTONIA is about a girl living in late 18th century Venezuela who cares only about science, or so she thinks. Her mother has just died, and her world has shifted painfully. ANTONIA, yes you guessed it, is the name of my heroine and she is caught in a shifting world of superstition and ridiculous rules imposed upon women which she just doesn't understand or agree with. And so she shall live her own life, or at least try...
          
          I'll try to post a few times a week. This has been a project dear to my heart and one which I put aside for a time. I just wasn't sure if it was a good manuscript for Wattpad- or whether it was ok to post here in a variety of genres- this was my real worry, coming across as fickle in my tastes, and not reliable in my writing style. Full of guilt for not delivering with who I am supposed to be here- Ves Ryle writer of middle grade fantasy. 
          
          Anyway, at this point, with the balance of the world as we know it shifting so quickly, I decided that the time was ripe to share more of my work. Let me introduce myself, for this is who I am: LARKSPUR MITTEL, ANTONIA, CIRCUS, and other books soon to be posted. Historical fiction, New Adult, literary fiction (shiny cape blowing in the wind behind me)! And by the way, you can all call me Vivian, my real name. Ves is my pen first name.
