Tears


Adele liked to think she was like her father, like her brothers.

But if she were, she wouldn't be drowning.

Oh, she was proud, proud enough not to cry in front of them.

But she hadn't been cunning, cunning enough to trick them, to prove her innocent.

Yet, what to do when you're as guilty as you come?

They called her witch.

She was.

Now Adele cried, her tears just a warm sensation against her cheeks as the cold embraced her.

Death was calling. But she was proud. She was afraid.

She decided to stay. Not here, not there. Somewhere.

Unable to cry as she saw her father goes mad. Her bothers go dark.

And she blamed herself. It was her fault.
