We're finally alone. Can I call you mine? I hope we can stay here, till the end of time.

Chapter 16:

Alex's Point Of View:

"Why do you do this to me di Angelo?" I sigh, turning to face him.

"I'm sorry. I really am," was all he could say after a pause, before he laid his head on my legs which were spread out in front of me.

I run my fingers through his undeniably soft hair.

How did I end up here?

"Where the hell is he?" Ally came up to me, fuming, as I walked with Dylan.

I shot her a confused look and said,"Excuse me?"

"You heard me. You're not deaf! So tell me where the hell is he?" her voice had gone up an octave. Dylan raised an eyebrow and stepped in front of me.

"Look Ally, there must be some kind of-" he didn't get to say much before he was shoved aside and Ally had grabbed onto my collar.

"Where is Nico?" she growled. Campers were starting to gather around and I spotted Leo amongst them. He came forward but I shot him a look that said 'This is my fight'. Well I think it said that. Anyway, it worked.

I grab her hand and judo-flip her. People around us gasp. Yeah, I knew martial arts.

"I don't know what you're talking about." I calmly pull Dylan up and tell him to stand aside. My sword was still by my side.

"We had a fight and he said he was going to a place that only you knew about!" Ally said impatiently after she had gotten over the shock. "What did he mean?"

I was still confused before it suddenly clicked. I felt my eyes go wide.

"So you do know where he is," Ally smiled smugly, folding her arms across her chest.

"I know where he is. I also know for a fact that you would need to shadow-travel to get there," I smirk victoriously.

"What the hell! Nico isn't here!" Ally screamed, ignoring the looks people were giving us. Percy and Hazel had arrived to the scene too. Wait a second . . . Hazel! Hazel could shadow-travel!

"Well his sister is. Try her," I said, rolling my eyes before I start to walk towards Percy. Ally followed my lead and went straight to Hazel.

Percy grabbed my shoulders and gave me a side hug.

"You okay lil' sis'?"

I sighed, nodding my head. The crowd had dispersed and Leo had joined us. Dylan had left.

I was about to say something, when a voice interrupted us.

"No way am I taking you where my brother is! Plus, Alex is the only person who knows. I'd definitely take her over you!" Hazel exclaimed, Ally glaring at her.

She pouted her lower lip and whined,"But Nicoboo wants me there!"

I snicker along with Percy and Leo at the nickname. Seriously? Nicoboo? I felt bad for him.

"Not going to happen."

Hazel stalked over to us, looking furious.

"Gods, I hate that chick."

I nod along with her.

"I can't believe she thought that I would take her to Nico," Hazel shot me a look of disbelieve. "Oh, by the way, lets go."

"Huh?"

"Lets go. You know? To find Nico?" Hazel gave me a weird look.

"What? No! I'm not going to comfort him. Again!" I shrug my shoulders.

"But you're the only one who can convince him into coming back. Please!" Hazel begged.

I sighed and looked at Percy. He looked deep in thought. That's never good.

"Go," he said suddenly.

"What the Zeus? No!" I pull at the ends of my hair. Leo had been quiet during the entire exchange.

"She's right Alex. You have to do this, no matter how much I don't want you to," Percy pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.

I think about it. I should go. No matter how much pain Nico had caused me, it was my duty as a friend at least to go get him.

"Come on," I said before grabbing Hazel's waiting hand. I whisper the place we needed to go into her ear.

In a flash of black and the feeling of my skin being pulled off, we are at the hill.

I wave Hazel goodbye.

Walking up, I spot Nico.

His head was in his hands and his posture was droopy and sad. I sigh before approaching him.

He took me to this hill after the quest. Told me it was his secret hideout. A place where he could think and relax. It showed a full-scale view of shining lights and busy streets of New York City.

I sit down next to him, keeping a little distance. His head shoots up, eyes wide.

"You came," he whispered after a moment of silence.

"I didn't have much choice did I?" My voice was colder than I had meant it to be. His expression went from relieved to hurt.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." I sighed for the twenty fifth time in the day and ran my fingers through my hair.

"I'm the one who should be apologising," Nico said as I spread my legs out.

"Why do you do this to me di Angelo?" I sigh, turning to face him.

"I'm sorry. I really am," was all he could say after a pause, before he laid his head on my legs which were spread out in front of me.

I run my fingers through his undeniably soft hair.

How did I end up here?

We sit in silence for a moment, enjoying the view and secretly, each other's presence. I don't know what it was, or what this emotion I'm feeling felt, but I knew I had to forgive Nico for what he did.

"You know I didn't kiss Ally right? She only forced herself onto me after Grover and I saved her," Nico gets up and grabs my hands, stopping me. Tears gathered in my eyes.

His hands are slightly bigger and warmer.

"Then why did you lie to me?" By now, tears were streaming down my face. I didn't even know why. His hand reached up to wipe one away. Nico moved in closer.

"I was trying to do what Hades had told me. I wanted you to be safe but I guessed I liked you too much. Plus my dreams were no longer nightmares just conversations with Aphrodite," he suddenly enveloped me into a hug. "I realised that you were more important to me."

I sob into his t-shirt. I don't even know why I was getting emotional.

"I hate you so much," I said slowly, my tears dying down a little. "But I can't seem to let go of the fact that I like you more."

We were still hugging. I pull back and look into his eyes. No matter how dark they were right now, I could truly see love and care in his eyes. He looked vulnerable.

"Will you please forgive me?" His voice was the epitome of desperate.

I was quiet for a moment. "Of course, because I really don't have a choice."

While we were staring, we had gotten closer and closer until my eyes screwed shut and my lips met his.

Suddenly, it was only us. Only us against the world. And only us in this world.
