Angela's POV

After a week, I was arranged with the meeting for the secretary. I was nervous, but excited because I get to have a job which means I will have money for rent and food. With the last month's payment I was buying food and I had to buy medications for pregnancy. I never knew they are so expensive, but doctor said I should take them often. And they really helped me with the morning sickness.

I need this job to pay a rent for this month. I don't want to end up on streets with the baby in my tummy. I couldn't bring my child in such a danger. I really can't wait to have my baby in my arms. I will be the happiest person then.

Getting out of my thoughts, I pulled the skirt to my waist. I bought a new one yesterday, because I can't fit in my previous ones. Everything seems so tight on me. I was always thin without curves and now that I actually have bigger belly and my boobs got more bigger so every shirt is tight on me. I can't use button-ups afraid that some button will pop off.

But I found bigger blouse that's not a button-up and it fits. Only loose clothes I have are my pajamas and I certainly won't go in pajama on the appointment for work. My brain still can't comprehend that I'm looking for a job with the almost five months pregnant bump. I really don't know how people, like Donatella, can fire people knowing their poor financial state.

I pulled my hair in a ponytail and let the a few loose hairs fall at the sides of my face. Once I felt that I was done and ready, I picked up my bag with documents and left the apartment. I had to be there in 9 a.m. sharp, not because I had to, but first impressions are important. I hope on the bus that will, luckily, drop me off at the station that's nearest that company. God, please don't let me mess this up.

My hands became sweaty when I saw the building coming in my view. I actually searched up the location and I know it's here. The bus came to the stop as I got out. I took a deep breath and walked towards the main entrance. The building was pretty decent and it wasn't standing out as being too modern.

I walked inside and the first person I saw was older man talking on the telephone. I approached him and waited for him to finish the call. He looked me up and down, finishing the call soon.

"Do you need something, Miss?" He asked me smiling. I felt relieved with his grandfatherly voice.

"Yes actually. I applied for the job. The woman's name was, I believe, Carla." I informed him.

"Alright. You can can take the elevator to the third floor. You will find her office there. First door to the left." He explained. I smiled and thanked him.

I walked towards the elevator and got inside before I pushed the floor number 3. My first job appointment was six years ago until now when I'm fired from that job. I wonder why my life can't be peaceful at once. I never did anything wrong to anyone. When I haad excess money, I would always donate it to the people who didn't have it. I'm a good person, then why am I carrying all this burden alone?

My tears almost slipped from my eyes, but I quickly wiped them off and put on the best smile I could muster. I need to do this for my baby. I knocked few times on the door and opened once I hear that woman's voice. I was met with the older lady who was sitting on the chair behind small wooden desk. She softly smiled at me and pointed at the chair in front of her desk.

"You must be Miss Angela Lee. Nice to meet you." She shook my hand.

"Nice to meet you too." I said nervously.

"Can you give me your resume and application?" I nodded my head and quickly took all the documents from the bag handing them to her. She checked everything attentively and put the papers aside after reading them.

"You have the experience and you're qualified for this job very well." She explained sweetly. Why did I sense that there is a 'but' coming?

"Thank you. I appreciate it." I said. I noticed that she glanced at my stomach. Obviously when I was sitting my bump was showing more.

"I can see that you are pregnant, right?" And there is the question I didn't want her to ask. I hoped she would ignore it, but she is an older woman who has probably experienced a pregnancy and knows the drill.

"Yes. But that wouldn't stop me in doing my job properly. And I really need this job. My child's life depends on it." I pleaded while acting like I gave her an explaination. She looked at me with pitiness, but I could care less. She seemed like a kind woman and I wanted her to see that I'm still able to do the work properly.

"I understand you situation, Miss Lee. I'm just the secretary here, but you will also need to talk with the boss. I'm sure he will understand you." She said giving me a smile. I became happy in two instant seconds. This will be my chance and I can't miss it.

"Thank you so much. I promise I will give everything to this job if you give me a chance." I beamed. She chuckled at my reaction. But who couldn't be happy knowing that your child will be fed and taken care of? I felt estatic with the opportunity that was given to me.

"Can you please come tomorrow and you will meet with the boss. I'm sure he will consider your application. Our boss is a very kind man, darling. You don't need to worry." She reassured me as I nodded in understanding. I hope the boss will accept the condition I'm in and let me work.

"I think that's enough for the first meeting. I will expect you tomorrow." I smiled and got up from the chair.

"Thank you so much." I said with appreciation and shook hands with her.

"No problem, Miss. I'm glad that we could have you." I took my bag and put it over my shoulder. I bid a goodbye and left her office. I had to go to the store and buy something for lunch and dinner. My stomach was growling because I didn't eat anything before coming here. And I craved for fried chicken, but I was on minimum with my money and wanted to save for the food that's neccesary.

After finishing with the shopping, I headed home. I couldn't wait to tell Helen about the interview for the job. She will be estatic to hear about that. She had more hope than me to be honest and I bet she will say 'I told you so'. But on the way home, I didn't know what will wait for me there.
