the cold didn't ease up on your way back home. you shivered with every step you took. the ground was coated with snow; the place looked like something in a snowglobe. at almost every crosswalk, you had to stop and wait for the light to change, allowing you to spend more precious time in the freezing cold.

bokuto watched as you shook beneath the harsh touch of the wind. on a whim, he pulled you into his chest and wrapped his arms around you. your face burned up, his warmth surrounded you like a blanket. it was like cozying up near the fireplace with a cup of hot cocoa. that would've been nice.

you then remembered what was going on. you barely knew this kid; you two had no business hugging each other in the snow. after a fruitless effort to escape his grasp, bokuto's hand pressed your head back into his chest.

"stay. you're shivering," he insisted. he was right; your body wouldn't stay still in this cold. his head rested on top of yours and his hands rubbed your back. you crossed your arms and begrudgingly accepted his embrace. just as you started getting comfortable, his arms fell off of you.

"light changed," he explained when you gave him a confused look. you huffed and followed him across the street. you trailed behind him, watching him walk. the way he puffed his chest out like he was having the best day ever. how could anyone be so peppy at a time like this?

"it's this block, right?" the boy said, pointing to the street up ahead. you were still grumbling about how warm he must be as you shivered. why couldn't you have come so prepared? you wouldn't be here if you had.

it was hard for your violently shivering to go unnoticed. again, he pulled you back  to him. you frowned, feeling your heart flutter in your chest as he held you close. for a moment you closed your eyes,

"you know we could do this inside too? might be a bit warmer."

you scoffed and slipped away from him. right, you're going home. you stomped away, ignoring his distant laugh as he ran to catch you. less than a few seconds had him by your side again. he patted your head and smiled.

"i can hug you some other time you know," he said pointedly. you ignored him and continued to walk in silence. getting home was your only priority.

you stood on your doorstep, ringing the doorbell impatiently. you didn't have the heart to find your keys. the door swung open much later than you wished it would. you were

"oh, a friend! come in, come in!" you stepped inside, leaving your shoes near the door. bokuto immediately struck up a conversation with your mom, explaining that you might be sick. you stomped to your bedroom.

"soup or tea, honey?" she called to you from the kitchen.

"soup," you shouted before retreating to your room. you slipped out of your clothes, throwing aside the boy's hat and changing into warm sweats. you turned on some music to distract yourself from the conversation your mom was having with your "friend". you hid underneath your blankets and curled up into a ball.

you could hear the two laughing about something in the kitchen. how unfortunate. your mom probably already liked him, which meant she'd constantly bug you about inviting him over again. you had absolutely no plans on doing so, which would make it even more of a pain in the ass.

a knock broke you out of your internal rant.

"hey hey hey. can i come in?"

"fuck off."
