Four a.m.

That's the time Lennon came knocking on Maia's bedroom door, drawing me out of my slumber with a wake-up call to start getting ready for a day on the set of his TV show, Fire and Ice.

I barely managed to drag Maia from the party at two-thirty, somehow falling asleep in her cozy bed a few minutes before three.

So, as Lennon and I walk into the set building, it's safe to say I'm barely functioning.

He at least was courteous enough to prep me a thermos of coffee with a sandwich bag filled with sugar to add to my heart's content.

The sun has yet to peek over the horizon and the amount of people functioning and bustling around is alarming. Coffee is being passed around, cameras are turning on, and the voluminous shouts of orders are thrown about.

Too chaotic at this hour.

"I have to go to hair and make-up, but you can just hang around here and not touch anything." Lennon says as we walk further into the building. He turns down a short hallway, "unless you need shots of the draining process that is Tina's styling."

I yawn. "I didn't bring my camera. I'm only here to observe and take notes of what I need to switch from my original plans with Milo."

Lennon opens the door at the end of the hallway, letting me go ahead first.

It's dark in the underpass and I keep walking until the furnished set appears in front of me. I peek over my shoulder, taking in the auditorium-like seating overhead. I've seen pictures of sets and even had to submit a virtual tour of a TV or movie set for a group assignment (one that I ended up doing all the work, but it's fine), but that's nothing compared to the real thing.

There's cameras on dolly's, sound boards, light fixtures, and even more cameras that make the one the school lent me look like a washed-up reject.

"This is insane."

Lennon laughs softly, steering me in the direction toward what I assume is Camera 1. Two men stand beside it, discussing the packet in the taller guy's hand.

"No, I think we're better off filming this in a wide shot even as Lennon and Aalyiah argue."

My mind and my mouth don't move on the same wavelength. "If the background has no significant meaning to the scene around them, then they're better off shooting their fight close up to really highlight the emotions on their faces."

"I'm sorry, who's talking?" The larger of the two men turn around, their light but cold eyes settling on me. If I wasn't shaking in my shoes, I'd compliment his beautiful eyes that pop against his dark complexion. "What are you?"
