In the UK, we have primary school and secondary school. Primary school is compulsory and ranges from ages 5-11. Secondary school is also compulsory and ranges from ages 11-16. In the year 2 and year 6 have official we have tests called SATs (

Statutory Assessment Tests

). This is because at the end of year 2, we finish KS1 (Keystage 1) and Year 6 is the end of KS3. Some school may have SATs in the other years but those don't really matter and are unofficial.

Nursery is not compulsory but reception is.
