so much had happened in the last few days, and i was just barely registering everything.

jack sat up quickly and stared at me.

"did you see.. did you see that?" he asked.

i nodded.

"it was me!" he said softly. "i had a family! i had a sister! i saved her! i had.. you."

then, he started to laugh.

"why do you always have some sort of secret identity?" he laughed. "that's why he chose me. us. i'm a guardian."

he stood up, and i did the same.

"you're just realizing that?" i asked, sarcastically.

the little fairy squeaked, while i wiped the snow off of my skirt.

"we have to get out of here." jack said.

jack grabbed the two broken pieces of his staff.

he placed them together, and the broken pieces fit each other perfectly, like an easy puzzle.

the middle of the staff glowed blue, and it was somehow magically fixed.

we flew over the snow, cheering.
