Louis eyes the notification on his lock screen while mindlessly tapping the side of his phone. His thoughts are all over the place but somehow they seem to circle back to the question- why? Why is Harry asking him this now?
The fact of the matter is- they're not. And it's not like Louis doesn't want to be. It's more like he's planned a whole afternoon of fun for valentine's day- which is in a week- where he's planning on asking the younger boy to be his boyfriend.
Since he's sixteen now, one of the compulsory classes he has to take is Soulmates 101 and if he's totally honest, he'd tell you that he absolutely hates that class. The teacher rubbed him up the wrong way since the first day when he insisted that no-one knows who their soulmates are before both of them turns eighteen. Louis stood his ground though, insisting that he already knows who his soulmate is. He's known since he was three years old.
Right now though, after much thought and deliberation about why he doesn't have those three little tattoo's that would prove that he's talking the truth- and a heavy worded conversation with his mother who was called in by the principal- Louis has made peace with the fact that Harry might not be his soulmate.
He's also not talking to his mother- other than thanking her for the food she provides- because he firmly believes she could have said something sooner and he wouldn't have made a complete arse of himself in front of the whole class by insisting that he already has a soulmate.
Alas, he feels it's his responsibility now to tell the younger boy that they probably aren't soulmates, but that he still has this feeling in his gut that they might be. He can't really explain it, and he's not as vocal about it, but deep down he knows that loving Harry is something he's bound to do for the rest of his life.
Which leads to his plans for valentine's day where he plans to ask the green eyed boy to be his boyfriend. He's still debating if he should come clean about the whole soulmate thing then too, but for now, being boyfriends feels like a step in the right direction.
Sighing he unlocks his phone and starts typing, wincing a little when he hits send.
