Taylor's POV

"What do I do?" I ask Tree as we sit in her office,

"What do you want to do Tay?" She asks me,

"I don't know!" I say throwing myself onto the couch.

"Want me to call the number?" She asks me, she dosent normally give full control over choices that could be public.

"I don't know!" I say raising my voice slightly,

"Hey, you're fine, calm down, I will call it." Tree says walking over to me.

She grabs her work phone and the bracelet off her desk and sits next to me. She types the number into her phone and presses the call button,

"Hello... Can I ask whose number this is... Hi Alexia... Yes, my name is Tree, I am calling on behalf of Taylor... We just wanted to call and make sure you were safe..." Her eyes widened as the girl spoke on the other side of the phone. "Okay, are you okay with me sending you a text message in a bit?... Okay thank you, sweetheart," She hung up the phone,

"Her parents died a few months ago she was sent to live with her aunt who seemed to be abusing her, she came to the show with her best friend and wanted to give those bracelets to someone who could help her, when your mom came over to talk to her she decided to give them to you,"

"We need to get her somewhere safe," I said as I texted Travis.

"We can contact the authorities but the thing is unless she has somewhere she has to go she will be put into foster care, which as much as I don't want to say this, would probably be worse," I sighed as she responded,

"Give me a minute,"

I stepped just outside her office and called Travis,

"Hey beautiful," He said as he picked up the phone,

"Okay I was talking to Tree, and we decided to call the number, so it was that kid's number, she is talking about the fact she lives with her aunt who is abusive, I want to call the police but don't want her to be put in foster care if she does get taken away from her aunt," I ramble taking as quick as I possibly could,

"It's okay my love, Why don't you report it and ask for any updates, if she does get placed in foster care we can take her in for a bit if need be,"

"You would be okay with that?" I question, I do not want to rush into it but at the same time we had spoken about kids and we both wanted them,

"Babe, calm down, If that is what we can do for this kid, that is what we will do,"

"Okay I am going to go talk to Tree, thank you," I say before hanging up the phone,

I take a deep breath as I walk back into Tree's office to make what could be a life-changing phone call.

3 days later

"Did they tell you what time her flight will get here?" Travis asked me as we were laid in bed.

"Nope, just after noon," I say as he wraps his arm around me, "Are we really doing this?" I ask looking at him,

"Yep," Is all he says. He is very to the point, especially with this kind of thing. Sometimes it annoyed me but a lot of the time it was helpful. If there was anything going on we needed to talk about he would talk about it, he never avoided important conversations just because they would be awkward.

At around 1 pm I got a call from Tree to tell us that her flight had left and that she would be at our apartment with her case working in around 2 hours.

"Guess this means we have to get out of bed," Travis said as I put my phone on my bedside table.

I laughed in response before kissing him and getting out of bed.

"Which top do I wear?" I asked Travis as I walked out of the closet into the bedroom holding a plain white blouse and a black oversized cropped crochet jumper,

"Black one," He says looking up from his phone,

"But the white one looks more professional," I say looking at the two,

"Then wear the white," He says sitting up,

He looked at me in a way that showed he could tell how nervous I was.

"Come here love," He said opening his arms for me to come and sit with him, "It is going to be okay," He said stroking my hair and kissing my neck lightly.

"What if it isn't tho?" I ask taking a deep breath and closing my eyes,

"We have done everything we can to make sure this is going to go well,"

"But what if we aren't ready for a kid, I mean she is 12 but it is so sudden," I said panicking.

"We have spoken about wanting kids soon, and we have already spoken about our options,"

He spoke about our reality in a way that relaxed me, I knew I would never be able to have kids of my own because of my eating disorder,

I leaned into him and closed my eyes,

"This is gonna be fine," I said quietly reassuring myself,

"It is going to be perfect my love, go get ready beautiful," He said as he kissed my head.

I had placed the cats in the kitchen so they didn't bother us,

I was pacing the living room when the doorbell rang.

"You have got this," Travis whispered to me as I opened our apartment door.

Tree was there along with a shy-looking Alexia and a man I was assuming was her case worker.

We invited them into the living room and Travis went to get them drinks,

"As you know we expect this to be a temporary situation until more suitable guardians are able to take Alexis in," The case worker said

"My name is Alexia," She said quietly, she was loud enough that I could hear her and there was no way her case worker who was sitting next to her didn't hear her.

"We will be doing weekly check-ins, and all and any lifestyle changes must be documented, Our biggest issue with this arrangement is going to be public images of this young girl being public." It became clear to me that he didn't care about Alexia, she was just another case for him.

"Yes, we understand that, We have put as much as possible in place to protect her. We have also spoken to her and she has said to us she is comfortable with photos being public," Travis said, he was referring to a phone call he had with Alexia yesterday.
