[ y/n's pov ]

he was yelling and complaining to lute about how annoyed he was..i'm not sure what he was stressed out about because i had just walked in. but i barely got to hear another word of his when lute got his attention and pointed at me.

his eyes landed on me.

adam.

he quickly shut up, acting cooly.

"oh, hey y/n," he crossed his arms. leaning back in his throne like chair as his normally raspy voice was in a nonchalant tone.

"hello sir." i replied, blankly as i tried to keep my composure.
'..why do i like him?' the thought laughed at me in my head as my inner thoughts began to mock myself.

i always asked myself this question though.

because honestly, it seems like i peak no interest for him. whenever i see him laughing and saying the stupidest things i can't help but smile. yet as soon as he notices me he changes.

clearly, he doesn't like me.
so why do i like him?

that's my question everyday.

i walked over to him, standing beside him as he gave a furrowed and questioning look while lute gave a smug look.

"what are you doing?" adam questioned. confused why i was near him.

i shrugged my shoulders.

"my job?" i raised an eyebrow.

my job is to be near adam, i'm a subordinate, like lute is as well.
adam has a couple of people like me and lute but it's mainly us around him-lute being around him a bit more than i.

i continue with my sentence however, "i have something to report,"
i spoke formally, but that's usually what i do when i'm around someone i like. i don't get why, but there's some sort of switch in my head to do so. luckily nobody really questions it because adam is a high rank than me, usually people lower talk formally to higher-up people...i guess??

anyway, i continued with my report, informing him of what i came to talk to him about. (it's not important to the plot so i won't make something up 😭)
