A/N helloo, glad to see you here again :) Hope you're enjoying the book so far!

From the moment Elara stepped into the pulsating lights of the rather crowded nightclub, I felt a knot tighten in the depths of my being. As her guardian angel, it was my duty to watch over her, to protect her from harm and guide her toward the path of healing. And yet, as I observed her from the shadows, I couldn't shake the sense of unease that gripped me.

At first glance, she appeared to be the life of the party–her laughter ringing out like music in the air, her smile bright and infectious as she danced amidst the crowds with her best friend. But beneath that facade of cheerfulness, I could sense the undercurrent of sadness that lingered just beneath the surface she tried to bury.

I watched as she moved through the crowd, her movements fluid yet somehow disjointed, as if she were merely only going through the motions of living rather than truly embracing the moment. There was a heaviness in her eyes, a weariness that dared not to show, and in place was one of false happiness– a testament to the pain that still recently haunted her heart.

As the night wore on, I saw her retreat further into herself, her laughter growing quieter, her smile more forced. It was as though the weight of her sorrows had become too much to bear, dragging her down into the depths of the sea despite her best efforts to stay afloat.

As Sylas focused his attention on Elara, he couldn't shake the sense of another presence lingering in the shadows–a presence that sent a shiver down his spine and set his senses on edge. Turning his gaze away from Elara for just a moment, he caught sight of his sister, Cyrene, watching him from afar in a booth, with a knowing smile.

Cyrene had always been the embodiment of grace and strength. She had watched her younger brother since the day he was born, guiding him through the trials of his duties as a guardian angel with wisdom and compassion.

But now, as he saw her watching him from across the club, he sensed that there was more to her presence than met the eye. There was a glint of mischief in her eyes, a playful energy that hinted at something beyond the realm of mortal understanding.

Sylas knew his older sister never meant any harm. She was only there to watch him do his duty correctly. She didn't always hover him, but since this was his first ever duty as an angel, what would a responsible older sister do? She was bestowed upon the gods to be apart of the council because of her countless duties successfully completed and her gracefulness that had rather impressed the heavens.

With a silent nod of acknowledgement, Sylas returned his focus to Elara, who was now dancing again with her friend, Sable. But even as he watched her, he couldn't shake the feeling that Cyrene's presence was a harbinger of things to come. For he knew that Cyrene was right–despite the tribulations that lay ahead, he had a duty to protect Elara, to guide her, to love her through the darkest of nights when she couldn't and into the dawn of a new day.

As the night came to a close, Elara and Sable retreated to the quiet solitude of the car, the rhythmic hum of the car providing a low, soothing backdrop to their conversations.

The weight of Liam's departure still heavy on my heart, I found solace in the comforting presence of my best friend. The soft glow of the streetlights in the parking lot cast gentle shadows across her face, illuminating the empathy and understanding that shone in her eyes.

"Sable," I began, my voice trembling with emotion, "I don't know how to thank you enough for being here for me. I just don't understand how everything went wrong... We were supposed to be in love, build a life together, but it feels like everything fell apart."
